Here is a question for all of the fabrication garus that use this board.   I am looking at replacing all of the Heims for the 2016 season.  I am mostly concerned about safety and how they are used in a steering application.  Any input?

I would stick with cromoly. Some people use Teflon lined that you don't lube , I use outpace that I take off clean out and relube with schaeffers grease, as long as your using 5/8 or bigger and moly your not going to break a heim unless you knock the wall down

Don't use a cheap one or you'll have a bunch of play in the wheel.

5/8 or larger, and there is a product out there that is a spray. It is a dry Teflon spray. Forget product name, being dry it doesn't attract dirt as a wet product would.

I agree with legend. For sure chromoly. I prefer the Teflon lined it just cuts some maintenance. FK and Aurora make some really nice stuff. Whatever route you go skimp, and look at tensile strength. Saving $10 on a cheap QA1 doesn't pay for the junk shock and other parts after it breaks.
