Can someone enlighten me on the advantage of running a 4.5 block as opposed to a 4.4 block.  What are the Pros and Cons of each.  What can a Wide Bore do that a 4.4 would not be able to.

I am not an engine garu for sure and just trying to educate myself.  Thanx

It allows a bigger piston so you can have the same displacement with a smaller stroke which extends your redline 3-400 more rpm and the larger bore makes it so the valve isn't jammed up against the side of the cylinder so it flows better. Unless it's legit wide open its pointless. Qualifying at Knoxville and maybe qualifying at Eldora if it rains all week.

Also many guys are using the same 4" stroke that they were in their 430ci 4.4 bore space engines and just gaining displacement. Many 440-450CI wide bore engines making around 860hp vs the 430ci with the same head configuration making 815-820
