so from your extensive experiance running a Davis box you know what it does ??? A motor that's stumbling is way more difficult to drive in the slick that one that runs correctly . The stumbling motor clears out and breaks the tires loose.

Smith's Pro1 has since been modified from where it was originally to allow him to run with the Penn Ohio Series.  He was running a biscuit bar until dog hollow, marion center and hummingbird all outlawed them.  A rev limiter is a type of traction control, and I'm sure he's running one.  Most guys running a high dollar motor are and should.  I also heard the rumor that he's running a 421 from a good source, but I'm not taking anything from the fact that the guy can wheel a car.  He just happens to have Dave Kline's experience and engineering in his corner.  Pro1 is always looking for ways to make their chassis' faster.  Dave looks at the rules of these local tracks and plays in the gray area.

yes!  try and tell me it's not!  if you're turning 7000 rpm and just spinning the tires.  you can easily lower the rev limiter and save your tires.

I see what you are saying....... But, if you put a lower chip in and bounce off the rev limit on exit of every turn, you are NOT winning races. That's not how traction control works. It's gotta be smooth to get grip.

The engine out of the 28n is posted for sale on at least a couple of Facebook classified pages. It is listed as a 406 and just won the big finale at Dog Hollow. It would be a good opportunity for someone to get a hold of one of those high dollar engines at an affordable price.

How do you know this is the same motor?

Traction control?? lol... Rev limiter?? lol, so what...exotic parts?? lol... Listen, I dont know him at all but He's just a good driver that has his shit figured out!!! There's only so much you can do to these cars. It's all about balance! Smooth power, smooth driver, balanced race car, and tire prep. Now thats not easily achieved either. I personaly haven't figured out everything yet and even if I do there will always be someone that just might be a little better. I'll just take Chris Schnieder for example.( I know him very well and he answers all my questions) There is nothing exotic on his car, nothing special about his motor( except for his cam selection). Hell, Chris has had the same rf spring and stock lowers since he built his car probably 10 years ago! He just got his shit figured out and wins a ton of races!!

If someone is running traction control on a car that the rear suspension is still located by trailing arms and spring buckets in the stock location. That's funny. A Rev box would be like hitting the brakes. Remember that you need forward bite/drive to catch the guy in front of you. I saw this guy race at dog hollow, he is winning because nobody is as smooth as him. Lap after Lap, and he just kept pulling out further and further. I no. I no. It's easier to say he is cheating.

I will also say they do have it figured out in the street stocks. word is he is moving up so we will all see how good of a driver he really is and drtracer27 that motor that he has for sale is the not the one he has been running it states that it only has that race on it so I would say that would be the motor that he bought from someone

That is a motor that his father Denny Smith, who builds their motors, built. They built it for the end of the season races. Denny said the engine is still in the car from the last race if anybody would like to hear it run.

Everyone wants to jump and say smiths car is ilegal. While the majority of these other pro1 cars are running up front and winning races. The 48 Moore pro1 car had a hand full of wins this year, the Barnetts 88 pro1 always runs up front, Hauger's T2 pro1has handful of wins and a championship this year. Maybe this Kline guy who builds these "pro1 chassis" knows his stuff, and you combine that with having the good drivers in his cars. Whats illegal ingenuity or driving abilities. As a fan who sits in the stands I can say I would probably buy a pro1 car as to a s&s because these cars seem to have a better win percentage than the s&s chassis with only a handful of cars out there

As a fan that sits in the stands your opinion about these cars and whether they are legal or not means jack shit!  I know for a fact that Pro1's were running a biscuit bar.  My cousin runs a pro1 and was protested at hummingbird for it.  That was the same year that Nate Smith was dominating everywhere he went and lapping the entire field.  Now that that bar has been outlawed everywhere, Nate isn't running over the competition week in and week out.  Wins have been harder to come by for him.  And for your winning percentage statement, that all depends on what area you're talking about.  Sure Marion center and Dog hollow have a high percentage of Pro1's winning because that's where Kline's shop is located.  Go to Clearfield, Hummingbird, and Thunder mountain.  Rebel Chassis are what wins the most up there because they're built there.

I will give all three chassis builders credit they all have cars out there that are fast, they also have a few that aren't quite up there. This goes with the theory that a car will not go out and make itself fast the driver has to have ability and someone has to be willing to spend hours on end every week working on the car looking for ways to make it faster and stay together. As far as a builder or setup guy running in the grey area of the rules, this would only be smart all major builders do what it takes to get an edge and if it doesn't say its NOT legal then it IS legal. So my best suggestion would be instead of crying about how fast the guys that do put the effort forward are work on making yours faster.

I can honestly say when the T2 (formerly the 69 of marion center)came into my dads possession at the end of 2013 we ran the biscuit bar, everyone at Roaring Knob complained while we only finished 2nd. I took the biscuit bar off the car for the next week we won with a substantial lead. The biscuit bar was not on the car since. So those who say that the cars are only fast because of using a "illegal biscuit bar" clearly do not know what they think they know. This year we won 6 of 12 races at Roaring Knob WITHOUT this bar everyone thinks makes the cars so fast. Everyone else just needs to quit over thinking it.
