JAYS AUTO WRECKING KEEPING YOU RUNNING ELITE 8 DRIVERS ANNOUNCED
The north east Late Model region has been a buzz in the past four days with last Friday’s announcement by the ULMS Racing Series officials about the Jay’s Auto Wrecking “Keeping You Running” Elite 8 program. The Zimmer’s Service Center ULMS Late Model Series enters its 16th season of operating in 2016.
After the last year and half of rebuilding the series and the brand again, I am really excited and looking forward to the 2016 season, especially with the Jay’s Auto Wrecking “Keeping You Running” Elite 8 program, stated ULMS Series owner and race director, Chris Zuver. “The drivers have always supported the series quite well over the years along with the fans and after the NDRL merger debacle in 2013 it has been a obvious rebuild from our 26 event 2013 season. The series along with myself have weathered the storm and with our good friends at Zimmer’s Service Center and Jay’s Auto Wrecking the tracks have now started to take notice that we are for real and we have the following once again, commented Zuver.”
The first Jay’a Auto Wrecking “Keeping You Running” Elite 8 drivers have sent in their signed contracts into the ULMS Racing Series office and they are as follows: Max Blair, Rob Blair, Levi Sikora, Doug Eck, Bobby Rohrer, former two times ULMS champion MikeKatie Knight, along with a Terry Suppa/Rayburn owned entry with a driver to be announced in the #4sentry and young Charles Powell Jr.., conclude the first “Elite 8” entries. These 8 drivers will be eligible for the Jays Auto Wrecking bonus funds at the season opener which is expected to be in late March of 2016. Other entries are still expected from several regional race teams.
The Elite 8 list is impressive to start with
Centerville, PA driver, Max Blair picked up over 30 wins in 2015 between his crate late model and super late model along with the ULMS wins last year at Sharon Speedway, Marion Center Speedway and the season finale at McKean County Raceway during the Fall Classic along with finishing second in the final point standings.
Max’s dad, Rob has won multiple championships over the years along with being the all-time ULMS feature winner with 16 career wins will be following the 2016 campaign in his famous Won11 machine.
Levi Sikora is a new face on the ULMS circuit the regular from Marion Center Speedway will be hitting the road in his new #57 Longhorn Chassis.
Corry, Pennsylvania, Doug Eck is widely known in the region with his hard charging driving in the familiar #03 Eck has been a main stay over most of his career on the very tough Stateline – Eriez Speedway circuit along with his Friday night haunts to Lernerville Speedway. Eck will no doubt bring the fans to the edge of the feet at each event in anticipation in his new CFR Longhorn chassis in 2016.
Bobby Rohrer of Waterford, PA made the transition from crate late models to the full open late model fairly well in the 2015 season running weekly at his father’s Eriez Speedway each Sunday night. The young Rohrer picked up his first super late model win at Marion Center Speedway in July in his Rohrer Trucking #11 Rocket Chassis.
Former two time ULMS Champion, Mike “Hollywood” Knight of Ripley, NY will be returning to the Zimmer’s Service Center Series after cutting back last year to concentrate on family and his booming business. The familiar#9K will be a definite welcome to the ULMS pits at and series event in 2016.
Car owner, Terry Suppa of Warren, PA has entered a Suppa/CJ Rayburn entry into the Jays Auto Wrecking Keeping You Running Elite 8 program for 2016. Suppa a former crew member for Todd Andrews has CJ Rayburn chassis guru, Brad Nolte turning the wrenches on the teams CJ Rayburn machines. The past two seasons have seen the Suppa team find victory lane multiple times with Chad Ruhlman in 2014 and in 2015 with team cars driven by Randy Hall and Ward Schell in RUSH crate late model competition. A driver will be announced at a later date in the #4s super late entry.
The last of the first Elite 8 drivers is Charles Powell Jr., of Brookville, Pennsylvania. Powell drives the red #94 Longhorn chassis and was a mainstay at Thunder Mountain and Hummingbird in 2016. Powell is the 2015 Hummingbird Speedway champion and impressed man at the end of year ULMS sanctioned Dick Litz Memorial at Eriez Speedway during the September Sweep weekend.
New faces and familiar faces and more new faces coming soon to be part of the 2016 Zimmer’s Service Center ULMS Racing Series family in part of the wonderful Jay’s Auto Wrecking “Keeping You Running” Elite 8 Program. More new will be forthcoming in weeks to come on the 2016 ULMS season.
