I dont know how many people from out this way made it to Syracuse but yesterday was the end of an era as the grandstands were imploded by the wonderful politicians in New York.  Like it or hate it Syracuse was one of the few dirt racing events that gathered national attention and now it's gone.

I documented the event in several ways yesterday if anyone is interested seeing the end of an era.

Sad Sad day, I attended Super Dirt Week for over 20 years, as a crewman, a vendor, and as a spectator,  and I attended The world finals for the first time this year,

and I can tell you this, its not the same, Charlotte is just all about money. Yours!  $5.00 for a $.010 bottle of water is just a sample of what you experience, and if you

thought Syracuse food was expensive, wait till you see the prices there. I spent time in the modified pits, I spent time as a vendor (that was me in the VP Fuels tent),

and I spent time as a spectator, maybe it will get better, but its not, and never will be Syracuse. I realize the weather sucked, the track was terrible, (it wasn't the

track crews fault, they did everything hey could with all the rain), the races were extremely boring, I've seen more passing in hot laps. Even with all this, I will go

again, because I love dirt racing.

Yes, A very sad day.  I was to Syracuse for the very first race in 1972 before the large grandstands were built. and I was there for the 40th running in 2011.  All told, about 35 trips to Syracuse in 40 years!!  Sure hate to see the place go!! Hopefully Glenn Donnely's new track will keep the tradition going, but only time will tell.   Cool1......who did you crew for??

GOOD RACING TO ALL!!!

Walt

me and my son went up this year! even brought home some dirt from the track, that was my 1st visit to Syracuse and me and my son will never forget that weekend! crazy weather all weekend. rain, then cold, then way too hot.lol it was all about the experience and the memories! plus I did not realize there were that many big blocks around.
