Policing tires are going to be the backbone of this series.
Make no mistake, we are very serious about tire tampering and this series will only be as good as its teching.

Racers, since this is YOUR series, what are appropriate penalties for tire rules infractions?

Creating a new series is no easy undertaking, particularly getting a very late start.

 

It is a work in progress. The key is going to be racers letting the promoters know they will support this.

I don't know how easy it is to actually "fine" someone. I'd say a suspension/disqualification and forfeit points earned.

Scruffy it's very difficult to acquire dates, I'm sure he's doing his best. What ever he comes up with will be better than " the bounce on your schming and blow it in my face speedmonster spook Tecumseh Anal alien invasion 31" lol and I've trademarked that name so it's off limits for the UFO series lol lol lol

Racers created the spec tire rule--I didn't. They are supporting a series that listens to them and includes them and attempting to save them a lot of money with the tire rule. If they won't support a series they are making rules with, what will they support?

 

We are talking with many tracks but they are concerned about support from the racers themselves...if racers like saving money on tires, then this series is for them. If they don't care about that, then this series isn't for them.

Sure you can "fine" them.

Forfeit all winnings for the night, all points money, and after suspension you pay X dollars fine (IMO it should be equal to the first place winnings from the race you cheated at to be added to the points fund) if you want to race the series again.

1st offense = 1 year suspension

2nd offense= lifetime suspension

If I owned a racetrack I would wholeheartedly endorse this club. Because the small sanction fee removes all the phone calls and BS I would have to put up with on a daily basis.  All the petty arguments, all the enforcement of the rules, all the whining about points, is upon the shoulders of the club, not track management.

 Car owners need to understand that this club concept, will only succeed if the membership of the club, will work to make it work.

Thanks, retort...I appreciate your support and you are exactly right.

 

Promoters take a chance when they schedule any series at their track. Purses are traditionally higher than a regular event and we are the new kid on the block.

We have something to prove and I am totally OK being in that position.

 

I feel strongly that,because of our tire rule, when our series comes to your local track that not only will car counts be higher but more racers will be in contention for the win. This series will not only save racers a lot of money on their tire bill, but will enable the weekend warrior to compete with the national or regional travelers for the win. I really believe that. There are a TON of locals who are excellent racers but don't have the unlimited horsepower or unlimited tire budget to showcase their driving abilities---this will help them do that.

 

Like it or not, dirt racing is in the entertainment business and our series and tire rule will enable race tracks to increase entertainment by increasing competition.

 

Racers can help themselves by helping us build this regional racing brand by contacting their track promoter and asking them to take a closer look at our series.

Rev. Your ideas to date have been good. Your issue's at the present is getting driver's to commit to your series. Don't forget the saying, ROME WASN'T BUILT IN A DAY, Have you been trying to contact racers by any other methods ? Trying to get a new series off the ground has to be very diffucult. A suggestion would be for you to get out the race tracks that are showing a interest in your series. You show SOMETHING to owners and you could possibly start showing a committed driver's list to promotors. JMO. but you have to start somewhere.

In my opinion, promoters can show loyalty to their locals by bringing in a series which rules enable them to be competitive at their bigger paying specials.

Promoters are in turn rewarded by being loyal to their locals with bigger car counts and more butts in the stands...

 

Am I wrong in my thinking?

Rev, you can most likely count us to be at a few events, possibly the full schedule depending on distance for us. (We don't have a toter or camper to stay over and we don't like arriving back at the garage when the sun comes up).

And, if you don't mind me suggesting, call some of your local promoters and ask them to take a closer look at our series if you like what we are trying to build...

it carries MUCH more weight coming from the racers.  I know it may be uncomfortable doing this but it makes a big difference. :)

I question your assertions that limited-budget racers will be competitive with national travelers simply by bolting on the same tires.

 

I also wonder why car counts at local tracks will be higher when this series visits.  It seems you're counting on limited-budget racers to buy 4-8 tires for one race, unless they already have 1450s and 1600s.

 

It makes sense that racers following the series and buying only those two compounds will reduce their tire bill.  But for guys running one race, it seems prohibitive.
