Countdown Begins to “2016 World Blastoff” at Port Royal on March 26 for UFo Dual Tours!
(Mars, PA)The “New” UFo Championship will start its stellar 2016 racing season in just two months at the historic Port Royal Speedway. The “2016 World Blastoff” will feature 3 divisions of pure power and will be the first-ever UFo “SuperNova” event featuring both UFo late model touring divisions.
The UFo Super Late Models will headline the event with a $3,000 to win race. This will mark the third time the UFo Super Late Models have invaded the ½ mile superspeedway at the Juniata County fairgrounds. In 2015, UFo Super Late Model Champion Devin Friese and runner-up Dylan Yoder shared UFo wins at Port Royal. Mike Lupfer is the 2015 Port Royal Super Late Model champion. UFo Super Late Model rules include open motor, steel block, spec motor and GMCT525 options.
The UFo Semi-Lates will make their full-touring season debut on the same night with a $1,000 to win championship event. The UFo Semi-Late class combines area limited, 2-barrel econo, crate and steel block late models. Spoiler and weight variances make each category competitive in this concept that originated at the Challenger Raceway in 2007. Tim Smith, Jr. has his name in the record books at the first-ever UFo Semi-Late feature winner from “The Ultimate” in 2011. Andrew Yoder is the defending champion in Port Royal’s Econo-Late division.
Port Royal is a powerhouse venue for the furious 410 Sprints and they will also be on the racing program with a $3,200 to win event. The speed of the 410 Sprint cars on this sweeping supertrack is an amazing experience. Lucas Wolfe is the defending Port Royal champion in this division.
The rain date for the “2016 World Blastoff” at Port Royal Speedway is Saturday, April 9. Rules for the UFo Super Late Models and Semi-Lates can be found at the tour website. Port Royal will utilize a compound tire rule for both UFo divisions. American Racer 44 or harder or Hoosier 15/1300 or harder with a minimum punch of 36 are required on all four wheels.
