Nothing new.   its long been against the law to alter a production vehicle in a way which increases emissions.   This would hurt FWD cars more than anything in circle track.    My guess if it is pushed, race cars as we know it will just do away with a "production nose" and move toward something more "race car" like the late models did in the 80/90's.

Stock car racing was built by outlaws!   I don't see this being very effective.  Just another way that a bunch of guys in suits are trying to regulate something that they know nothing about.

Be thankful for groups like SEMA and others that do so much work behind the scenes that most never hear about. Groups such as that are our voice in government. California laws, mostly because the state is a financial nightmare waiting to happen, is so difficult for individuals who want to have alternates in the vehicle they want to drive. Most do not build anything from scratch because of the government battle they have to deal with. In the end it is all about DOLLARS and CENTS. They need, politician's, to find alternative ways to fund the government.
