There's few tracks that run a show like lernerville. 4 divisions and they have pretty much the same group that has been running that show for years. 7:30 and cars are coming out that pit gate. They have a pa system and track personal that makes sure heat race 2 is in the line up area sometimes before heat 1 takes the green. You go to other tracks and at some of them your lucky to see a official. I no Williams grove and Lincoln move there shows along and you can get out of those places by 930 / 10 .

I read the PR by MRP and I am reading that the sprints, and modified heats will be last, then the 7 features will be run in their pre determined order. So if you want to see the heats for the two headliners you are going to sit through the other 5 features first. You cannot compare MRP with the Grove or Lincoln because they only run 1 or 2 division shows. A good way to complain about the new format would be to complain to the sponsors of the two headline divisions, they will hear you before MRP does.

Not an English professor here but I read the pr and it didn't say any where that the first five features were going to run before the heats of the Sprints and mods. Let's give it a try before you hang them. This is what's killing are sport today so much negatively cause it's on the internet people believe it.

Great idea call the sponsors and complain??? You have to be kidding me. This is the problem with racing anymore everyone wants all the rules and formats to benefit them. The track is obviously struggling and rumors were going around that it was closing etc instead of bitching maybe just show up and be thankful that they are trying to change things to keep the doors open so you have a place to watch or go race on a Saturday night.

Why dont people plan to go to the race track for the night? What are you going to do when u leave? Try to catch a movie at the closest theater? Suck it up and sleep in for an hour on sunday if needed. All this crying about having to get out of the track by 10:00 is ridiculous. This is local racing at mercer not eldora or televised shitty nascar. Did you ever think that the other 95% of fans and racers dont care what time they get done?

From what I understand the track had no choice in the matter. The mercer burrow told them they needed to end earlier in to many people in town calling and complaining. I know adding another class doesn't help that but back gate is the only thing keeping that place running

If they're going to let the neighbors and local government run the track, they may as well just close up now.

The locals don't realize that the track contributes to the town's economy, and consider it an irritant.  But that's not a new thing is it?  To everyone else racing is an annoyance.  Ask Brett Neupert, who, BTW, could relieve Mercer of two of those divisions if he ever gets running.

One of the problems I've seen with Mercer is that the show isn't really that good, and they are possibly trying the wrong thing to save the track.  The track has potential.  I think Mike Dutko is a very good announcer.  He obviously loves racing and it shows through.  But the track is run out by the time it's run in, and too often the races are runaways or bounce fests.  I hate to say it, seeing what she's doing to racing in the area now, but the track was at its best when Vicky was running it.  I don't know what the answer is for them now, but I really hope they find it.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

MRP has been there a long time and if people are just now complaining maybe they should have checked where they were moving to! Do your home work people. But again some people love to complain. I say RACE ON MRP. See when you start racing. Just how i see it!

I live one mile from Mercer. The rumblings have been present for years. However, there is a curfew and I know as far back as when the Michaels owned it the fine was heavy for going past. Do they enforce it still ?cant imagine they do. But, to prevent them from doing so this may be a good move as far as the early start time. Mercer is absolutely full of corruption politically. A story for a whole other day. But Im pretty sure the money hungry bastards that run the community don't want mercer to close. Too much revenue.

No, the problem is that too many of these tracks want to present any crap filled, back-gate heavy 6 hour program and expect everyone to be fine with it. Sorry pal, but when I go to a restaurant and get crappy food and service, I won't be going back and I will spread the word.

I'm not going to the races to be charitable. I pay $15 at the gate, or whatever it is, and I expect a relatively quick moving, quality program. When the hell did that become too much to ask? Get over yourself.

There is NO curfew. The track is not located in Mercer Borough. They cannot control what goes on there. That said there is nothing wrong with the track trying to be a good neighbor.

Based on what? Going to the World or the Dream where people plan to camp and party all weekend until the wee hours? At most of the weekly shows I attend, when the headline class is done, probably 30 to 40% of the fans clear out. That's Friday or Saturday tracks. I don't know if those people are going straight home or not, but apparently they've had enough for one night.

Obviously, late shows aren't the only reason why many tracks struggle. But to suggest that it has nothing to do with it is disingenuous.

I think Mercer's plan here will work!!   What it will do is save those of us that don't want to sit through 6-9 "small car" races from doing so!. Just arrive later and watch the four classes you want to see!!    "Back-gate" is somewhat a misnomer. Almost every car that comes through the back-gate, regardless of class, brings a few people through the front gate as well. Wives, kids and other assorted relatives of the driver and maybe some other friends as well.  It has always been this way, and always will. Most serious race fans come to see the top classes run, but there are those out there at every track who come to see family members or friends race regardless of what class they are running!!

GOOD RACING TO ALL!!!

Walt
