I grew up rooting for Ed, Sr. He always made time for his fans, mostly the kids. He definately had his share of blow ups, more than Junior, but he generally had right on his side. To me, Junior grew more arrogant as the years wore on to the point that he seemed to act as if he shouldn't be raced as hard by drivers that were below his own perceived level of skill.

Last year during and after the infield incident at Lernerville is a perfect example of that.  I assumed that it was more a reflection of coming to terms with him just not having the same spark, but maybe it is just arrogance.  That's sad, if it is.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

First of all , It  wasn't during the race, it all happened after the checkered flag!!!

Second, this was not the first time this happened!!  Ed may not have been right all the times,

but he felt he needed to do something about it so he did!!~

Okay, well I wasn't there.  It does change it a little, but only if that was the last race of the night.

Suffice it to say, nothing really good came out of the whole deal.

Sr. Ran 88 in the modified. 44 in the sprint car. And I believe 6 in his sprint car. I'm sure someone is more knowledgeable than me on this. Maybe Walt or Mike can help.

There were likely others, but these are probably the most well known.  RR was simply blowing hot air.  Forgive him, as he has only been going to the races since around the turn of the century.  Coincidentally, at the exact time a period known as "the great Action Track Snack shortage" began.

Ed Jr., for a time, ran a straight #2.

If at first you don't succeed, then maybe you just suck.

Ed Lynch, Sr. ran the 88 Modified that was owned by Lynn Momberger as well as the 44 Sprint car that was owned by Benamati.  Not sure of the exact dates though.  And I believe the 6 Sprinter that he drover earlier in his career was the family owned sprint that he drove prior to both of these.  Lynch, Jr. also drove the 88 Modified and I believe that is the car he scored his lone L'ville Mod win in.

I think Junior scored his only Modified win in Woody Brougher's #55.

Skull you"r right about the Brougher 55. But it was owned by PeeWee Brougher. I"m friends with his brother Paul, he told me the story how Ed Jr. got to drive that car. He also said he thinks Ed Sr. drove it once and won a feature also. Good memory Skull that was a few years back. PeeWee had some good drivers in his cars.

Skull....you are right on!!    Lynch's one Modified win came in the Brougher #55.  I checked it out in my records and it was August 8, 1986. He beat Bob Wearing in J. Merle Smith's #72 and Kevin Bolland.   I don't think the Brougher car had a regular driver that year as Blackie Watt took a second in it behind Wearing on June 20.

GOOD RACING!!!

Walt

PeeWee Brougher. I get nick names confused sometimes.

That was the first race after a lengthy rain delay, and I think Junior started on the front row and lead every lap.

Again i think you"r right. The ride was to be giving to Ed Sr. and Ed told PeeWee to put Jr. in the car and see what he can do as told to me by PeeWees brother.
