Central Pa Speedway is still listed for $275K would love to see someone open it back up....but doubtful that anyone will. Haven't heard of anyone even interested in the facility.

Lake Erie has been used for wine tasting events last year or two, but they do have a whelen modified race scheduled this year

Asphalt tracks are surviving in the Cleveland, Rochester and Buffalo areas. You would think at least 2 of the 4 black top speedways in western Pa could keep a car count.

If any of those tracks ran a specials only type deal once or twice a month I think it could be a successful deal.
I'm talking shows like NASCAR mods, K&N series, ISMA mods, ARCA, USAC sprints, midgets, and silver crown, asphalt 410 sprints, and outlaw asphalt late models.
When tracks around here went asphalt in the 80's it was a novelty and IMO when the tracks sold their souls to NASCAR it was the beginning of the end.

stopped at central a few weeks ago, the grounds and buildings on the hill are really falling into ruin...hopefully someone does something with it (dirt or asphalt)

the modified race is ROC Sanctioned, not NASCAR.When is the mod race at Lake Erie ? Nothing shows a race on the mod schedule at the nascar site

Has there been an announcement on Motordrome not operating for the 2016 season?? From all I have heard, I doubted very much the track would open this year. However, this it the first I have heard that it wouldn't open!! Their website has been down for several months and I have never gotten any press releases since this Melfi guy took over!! Unless the new owners at Jennerstown can pull some rabbits out of their hat, I think pavement racing is all but done in the western PA area!!

I've learned to enjoy pavement racing beyond the if the outside car comes down on you, you must take it around. I've been making it to Lorain about three time a year for the last more then a few years. If it rains around here I'll even go to Painesville but it's always a why did I go there thing after I get there. Sandusky heck it's a twice a year deal too. I've talked two the owner of Lorain at length and he's fun to talk to and is there because he loves racing and having a track. It ain't about getting rich with him or making money, what else could fans or racers ask for in a track. LOL, he also told me a few years back he was about to tame down a certain emod that was kicking butt weekly. I didn't take it that he had anything against the emod, just that it was something which needed doing.
edit and added on: Some get on my case here and yep I don't like it, but the reality of it is if I'm at a WoO race and in need of Sunflower Seeds, I think I'm welcome to head to a trailer an ask for some. It's going to cost me some BS for the askin, but I usually have my supply with me to pay up. ...

Closest thing to an official statement that I've found, was Dave Wheeler's FB post on the 14th, but admittedly nothing from Melfi, or the Mileys on the tracks status this year. I won't be holding my breath that we'll get one!
