ULMS LATE MODELS KICK OFF SEASON AT TYLER COUNTY SPEEDWAY FOR $5,080 EARL HILL MEMORIAL
The Zimmer’s Service Center ULMS Late Model Series kick off the 2016 season on Saturday, April 9th at the “Bullring” in Middlebourne, West Virginia. This will be the ULMS Late Models first ever trip to the hills of West Virginia yet alone Tyler County Speedway. The 27th annual “Earl Hill Memorial” will be on the program featuring a 40 lap $5080 to win event.
The ULMS Late Models will be featured by the Jay’s Auto Wrecking “Keeping You Running” Elite Race Teams of Levi Sikora, Max Blair, all time ULMS feature winner Rob Blair, Doug Eck, Bobby Rohrer, past two time series champion Mike Knight, Dave Hess Jr., Charlie Powell, Chad Wright and John Volpe. Other northern teams expected to venture down are the father and son duo of Greg and Michael Oakes from Franklinville, NY along with defending series champion, Jared Miley of South Park, PA, Devin Lewis of Weedville, PA, former UEMS Emod series champion, Joel Watson of Conneaut, Ohio in the Kevin Santee owned late model are all expected to be on hand. A star studded field of entries from the north will be hitting the ¼ mile Bullring oval.
The ULMS stars will have to deal with Tyler County’s best teams with Derek Doll, Steve Weigle, Kyle Thomas, Travis Brown, Brian Baumberger, Sonny Conley, Jared Hawkins and many others will be looking to keep the hometown fans happy with a hometown winner. Conley was the fastest late model on hand this past weekend at Tyler County’s practice day with a 13.367 second lap.
ULMS Racing Series race procedures will be in effect for this event. Race teams will pill draw for their group qualifying positions (number of groups to be determined by car count). Hot Lap Qualifying by group will be in placed for the ULMS Late Model teams and will be sponsored by C&S Photos. Heat races will be 8 or 10 laps determined by car count with the top finishers redrawing for the top starting spots in the Earl Hill Memorial. ULMS Racing Series procedures for heat redraw are as follows: 3 heats top 3 redraw, 4 heats top 2 redraw, 5 heats top 2 redraw 6 heats winner redraw. ULMS Series will also use the Delaware restart procedure on all restarts after the opening lap is completed. The Earl Hill Memorial Hard Charger of the race award is sponsored by Integra Shocks and RS Lawncare of Sinclairville, OH. Integra Shocks will award $75 certificate and RS Lawn Care will award a $100 cash award. Genesis Shocks will award the feature winner $150 certificate if the feature winner is displaying Genesis Shock decals on both sides of the car.
Raceivers are mandatory with the 454.000 default function being used. Race teams are reminded that the Westhold YELLOW transponders are used at Tyler County Speedway and rentals will be available by Tyler County Speedway and the ULMS Racing Series if needed for $20. The entry fee for the Earl Hill Memorial is $40 for all super late model participants. ULMS Late Model teams are reminded that the series is utilizing the 1300/44 Hoosier / American Racer tire rule for 2016 starting at Tyler County.
Pit Gates open 3PM with Hot Laps Qualifying beginning at 6:15PM. Race time is schedule for a 7pm start with pit prices at $35 and grandstand admission at $20.
