Some of you may remember a member who used to post on here who went by 4effer. He was my lifelong friend Bob Williams from Youngstown Oh. He was truly a low buck racer who built everything he raced and loved doing it that way. He was a true racer at heart. Sadly we lost him yesterday after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends

My father and I shared a memory of Bob yesterday, and I'd like to pass it along.
Back in the late 1970's, my dad was high in points in the Semi-Lates at Tri-City, but we had engine trouble and we were going to miss a week of racing. Bob graciously offered his car so we could keep up our points. Takes a special guy to loan his car to somebody to race at a track that he didn't race at. Started in the back of the feature, and my dad worked his way up to fifth place, but pulled off late in the race.
"Why did you pull off?" Bob asked when he got back in the pits.
"The engine got hot. Didn't want to hurt it so I pulled off," my father replied.
"Aw man, you were in fifth place," Bob replied. "You should have stayed out and run it until it blew up."
Didn't care about the car, he was too busy enjoying a good run.
Nice guy, will be missed.
RIP Bob.

sorry for the loss to those who knew him.
My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.
