Devin Friese Sweeps Late Model Loot at Dog Hollow Speedway; Moyer, Brehm & Hickok First Time Winners; Smith Repeats
STRONGSTOWN, PA (May 20, 2016) Dog Hollow Speedway beat the rain and saw Chambersburgs Devin Friese sweep the Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Model Loot while Joe Moyer held on to win the Lias Tire CARS Crate Late Models. Kyle Smith, Jr. made it two straight in the AMSOIL Pure Stocks with Ray Hickok, Jr. (RD Shaffer Well Services Street Stocks) and Pat Brehm (FWD 4 Cylinders) earned their first wins of the season Friday night.
Mike Blose led the first three laps of the Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Model feature before giving way to Clate Copeman. Copeman looked strong holding off sixth starting Devin Friese until lap ten. Once out front Friese started to give himself some breathing room. Cautions on lap 17 and 22 kept the field close. Scott Rhodes moved into second on lap 18 and started to reel in Friese. On the last caution Rhodes was docked two spots for jumping the previous restart. Tenth starting Mike Altobelli inherited the second spot but had nothing for Friese as he held off Rhodes, Copeman and Ryan Christoff. Dave Blazavich, Dwayne Taneyhill, Tom Decker, Jr., Levi Sikora and Tom Decker III rounded out the top ten. Heats were won by Friese, Chris Rhodes and Copeman. Devin Friese then went on to capture the King of the Hill for another $400. Friese donated $100 back to the Connor Bobik Make A Wish fund.
The start of the Lias Tire CARS Crate Late Models saw Dave Blazavich taking the lead. Blazavich led three laps giving way to Joe Moyer. Moyer led the rest of the way turning back numerous attempts from Mike Laughard to score his first win of the season. Behind Moyer at the checker was Laughard, Corey Neal, Blazavich, Troy Shields, Russell Baird, Jr., Jeremy Shaffer, Clint Hersh, Braeden Dillinger and Dave Lee. Taking the heat wins was Mike Ott, Shields and Moyer.
Tyler Wagner led the opening lap of the AMSOIL Pure Stocks. Last weeks winner, Kyle Smith, Jr., then powered into the top spot on lap two. Smith never faltered in scoring his second straight victory. Shawn Shoemaker, Amber Mills, Duke Davidson and Mike Benton were top five. Sixth through tenth were Tanner Hauger, Jeff Shaffer, Jr., Brad Nesline, Josh Snyder and Ray McCabe. Brad Benton and Jeff Shaffer, Jr. were the heat winners.
Commodores Ray Hickok, Jr. led all 15 laps of the RD Shaffer Well Services Street Stock feature. Hickok gave the Ford fans something to cheer about in capturing his first of the year. Filling in the top five were Joe Wrona, Brett Bingaman, Neil Tristani and Luke Barnett. Hickok won the lone heat.
Pat Brehm, of Windber, led all 12 laps of the FWD 4 Cylinder feature. Mike Phillipson ran a solid second over Mike Potter, Brady Miller and Dylan Young. Zack Wissinger, Cody Young, John Costa, Frank McGuire and Lance Kough completed the top ten. Phillipson and Miller were heat winners.
