Alex Ferree held off Keith Barbara and Russ King to win the $4,000 tonight.  Michael Davis stayed with Alex until slamming the 4th turn wall around lap 8 or so.  Michael Norris had worked his way up to second by the lap 12 caution, but got shuffled back a bit on the restart.  The restarts were very exciting, with much jockeying for position going on, but Alex always moved out to a comfortable lead.  There were 18 Super Late Models, 17 Crate Late Models, 12 Sportsman cars, 3 Hobby Stocks, and 2 Young Gun cars tonight.

1.       Alex Ferree (10) from 2nd

2.       Keith Barbara (17) from 5th

3.       Russ King (56) from 8th

4.       Michael Norris (72) from 10th

5.       Jared Miley (H1) from 7th

6.       Brandon Burgoon (02) from 3rd  (not sure about 6th and 7th, looked like a dead heat)

7.       Kyle Hardy (99) from 6th

8.       Jake Gunn (7) from 14th

9.       John Flinner (48) from 9th

10.     Bill Kessler (09) from 15th

11.     Josh Holtgraver (00) from 12th

12.     Christian Schneider (Mach5) from 11th

13.     Tommy Schirnhofer (8) from 13th

14.     John Mollick (4J) from 1st

15.     Michael David (7M) from 4th

16.    Butch Neubert (14) from 17th

17.    Mike Mort (M1) from 16th

18.    Mike Pegher Jr. (1C) DNS

Great battle between Michael Norris/Jared Miley and Brandon Burgoon/Kyle Hardy during the second half of the race.

1.       John Mollick (60M)

2.       Ben Policz (14R)

3.       Daryl Charlier (12)

4.       Justin Lamb (93)

5.       Kyle Lukon (184)

6.       Brandon Burgoon (60B)

7.       Steve Beatty (B4)

8.       Josh Double (38)

9.       Ken Chernik (5)

10.     Scotty Schemp (75)

11.     Justin Massie (11)

12.     Zach Kane (10)

13.     Chuck Medved (2M)

14.     Bryan Goebel (12G)

15.     Mike Reft (9R)

16.     Chuck Recker Jr. (6)

17.     Jeff Haynes (64)

Not sure of positions 7 thru 12, just my best guess.

According to the press release on the UFO site, it was the last UFO race ever.

I believe 13K + paid out for this purse, alone, not many fans...or teams following the series.

Take a friend..... or two, to the races that has never been there, the sport needs some young new dedicated followers!

If they're upset because they got 2 cars follow them to PPMS, Hardy and another guy, maybe they should realize they shot themselves in the foot by rescheduling this race against the Allegheny Mountain Speedweek when most of their regulars were from out that way.

So UFO up and bailed on all the tracks, drivers, and sponsors??

What about the money and contingencies that sponsors shelled out for point funds??

Apparently they're declaring Kyle Hardy champion and the two drivers that raced in both races get the awards and contigencies.

Here's the release from their page: http://ufochampionsh...nuation-of-ufo/

Basically it says that if no one is interested why keep going and they are prorating award money for the drivers with perfect attendance and sponsors' payments.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

They had 42 super lates at the Port Royal race in March, have had like 3 events rained out, and the PPMS race was their second race of the season. Sounds like last weekends poor car count at PPMS was their escape plan to get out of the deal. Didnt this series quit once before in the middle of their schedule a few years ago?

*UFo is a Track Alliance.   All Tracks are 100% Responsible for Payment for their own Event Payoffs and Point Fund Contributions To the Race Teams.   Point Bonus Is Based on Completed Number of Events and Fulfillment of All Track & Sponsor Commitments.  Point Fund Will Be Reduced for each Uncomplete Event According to that Event’s Point Fund Contributions and Sponsorship.  Any Uncollected Sponsor Commitments Will Be Deducted from the Total Listed Point Fund.

Super Late Models completed 2 of 22 events and will pay 9% of the listed position point fund to all drivers with perfect attendance.   Semi-Lates completed 4 of 12 events and will pay 25% of the listed position point fund to all drivers with perfect attendance

Perhaps the alliance has disbanded. Seemed like a mess from the announcement of the series.

I was a big fan of the MACS series in its heyday and i felt that this was nearly an adequate replacement for it. Not sure why it didn't catch on a little better. I'm guessing they progreesively spread themselves too thin, scheduling races from out to Port Royal, down to Winchester, up to Stateline and over to Tyler County. A lot of regional guys won't do that anymore.

I still think a good regional series like MACS could work.

On the bright side I think this brings about the opportunity for Chris to bring the ULMS back to the greatness that it was pre NDRL.

Greatness? He never had more than 1 or 2 followers either. For some reason none of the many attempts at regional series in the tri-state area have been successful since MACS went under. Nationally only select few get loyal followers like MARS, ALMS, CBC, and Deery Bros.

The ALMS doesn't even really get that many followers. It's usually just Brian Ruhlman hitting all the races.

In 2012 he had 6-7 followers for the series. If a few of the local tracks like Dog and Marion Center would hook up with ULMS or would make for a nice addition to the series. Right now he has about 10-12 cars signed up to run the series.

The ULMS had a race at Tyler County already and are supposed to be at Mercer, which will cancel if the sun goes behind a cloud for more than 10 minutes, and spend the rest of their time way at the top of the state. Not really ideal.

When the MACS was based around Challenger and was pulling guys out of everywhere, including guys like Chub, Davey Johnson, Billy Drake and Gary Stuhler, that was about as good as it gets.

But they get 35 cars for $2000 to win. I don't care who follows all the races, they always get great car counts.

yes alms does get good car counts don't understand the mentality in this area drivers want good purse races and then don't support them and then wonder why the weekly purse has stayed the same for 25 or more years.
