Rain postpones first night of Firecracker 100 weekend
Racing will resume Friday, June 24

SARVER, Pa. – June 23, 2016 – Persistent rain and an unfavorable forecast throughout the evening postponed the first night of the Firecracker 100 weekend presented by GottaRace.com at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa.

Consistent belts of rain ultimately forced track owners “the Tomson family” and Series Director Tim Christman to pull the plug on the race following the drivers meeting. Thursday night’s show will be postponed until Saturday, June 25.

Saturday will be jam-packed with double the action – Thursday’s scheduled event will fill the afternoon and the 100-lap finale will continue as scheduled later that night. Hot laps for the first show will begin at 12 p.m. ET, with racing scheduled at 1 p.m. Pit pass ticket holders may exchange their passes for Saturday’s first event.

Thursday’s preliminary show leading into the 10th Annual Firecracker 100 presented by GottaRace.com was to feature the Outlaws in a 30-lap feature for a $6,000-to-win purse. More than 50 late models took the stage each night in 2015, and Thursday was no different with 50 star-studded cars signed onto the roster.

“Mother nature paid us a visit, which unfortunately forced us to postpone Thursday’s event,” Christman said. “We always look forward to Lernerville Speedway on the schedule because of its exciting atmosphere.”

Thursday’s unsanctioned festivities are to go as planned. Saturday’s annual cornhole and horseshoe tournament, and driver autograph session will still be held within both shows.

Racing returns Friday, June 24 for the second preliminary night of the Firecracker 100 presented by GottaRace.com.

So I checked the websites - what exactly is tomorrow's schedule? I know a $10K to win feature right? Qualifying and heats too?

Not sure if there's any reason, but just curious...... Why do they say Friday's show is Friday and Thursday's show is moved to Saturday? Is there any difference than if they said night 1 will be Friday and night 2 will be Saturday afternoon? Only thing I can think is if the field is already set and they won't allow any other cars for Saturday's afternoon make up? Just curious. Maybe I'm just thinking too much into the wording.

You're just overthinking it. It's for rain check purposes, no differences in the show.

Wouldn't the $6K show be Saturday now? Or have I had too many Bud Lights tonight?

They should have run both prelim shows tomorrow. Now the track is going to be terrible for both races on Saturday. I wish they would just scrap tonights show instead of ruining the 100 lapper.

It'll be fine. Be positive and at least give them a chance.

It's nearly impossible to have a good racing surface for a daytime show or a show after a daytime show. It never works for Eastbay either. There's nothing they can do. So just scrap the Thursday show altogether and run time trials for Saturday's show since there will only be one prelim event.

They did it in 2013. Yeah, the day race sucked but the evening program was fine.

Agree with Gearhead on this - high of 89 and hot laps starting at noon. Gonna be an ice rink by 4 let alone 11.

I was also thinking they should run Thursday & Friday tomorrow and run the Saturday show as scheduled.

I wasn't there when they ran the afternoon/evening shows before, do they have time to work on the track between the shows?

Probably 4 hours or so. Can't see the first show going any later than 3 and the 2nd show doesn't start until 7. The last time they had plenty of time. The track was plenty saturated for the 2nd show. And I know you guys don't like slick, but slick to a curb will be ok in the first show as long as it doesn't rubber up.

Time doesn't allow for two full programs with the scheduled start time tomorrow.

GH, scrapping tonight's show would require (and likely be expected by patrons)  a refund for tonight's show, for prepaid 3 day pass customers. You paid for 3 shows and will get 3 shows. Monetary logistics nightmare, and  loss, for WRG.

Seems fair, feasible and logical.

I assume a rain check from tonight would be honored for either tomorrow night or Saturday's first 6k to win shows, for single event rain check holders.

Saturday's 2 races are 2 separate shows, not 2 shows for the price of one!

100 lappers almost always end up being slick.

The day show will be miserbale to watch, just as it was in 2013. I recall very vividly that everyone hugged the bottom line and there might have been three passes the entire 30 laps. It will be fun to watch Davenport skate around the slick up top during the 100 lapper though.

Also, does anyone know why Davenport is in the 116 instead of his normal Lucas ride?

Davenport have driven the Dreamweaver's Longhorn in other non-Lucas events in the past.

Randy Weaver has post concussion syndrome from his accident early this season and isn't driving. Instead of letting his equipment collect dust, he put Davenport in it for a few non-Lucas shows. They printed shirts and everything, so it looks like that union will continue a while.
