Dustin Smith and Shawn Westerfield swapped exciting slide jobs for several laps before Smith finally took the lead and went on to a 3 and a half second lead. There were 26 Boss Sprints tonight:

Zach Morrow led the first four laps, and I believe he may have had the fastest lap of the evening, but he got hard into the first turn wall, and did a series of very scary flips, but apparently he was uninjured. Rick Holley also flipped after hitting the first turn wall, also uninjured. These drivers put on a great show for the fans, and the crowd was one of the best of the summer. Cody Gardner came from the 13th starting spot up to 3rd, and Gale Ruth Jr., started in the 17 slot and drove to a fine 8th place finish. Heat race results were as follows:
