There's a difference between can't afford it and it being financially irresponsible. I'm no Blair fan, I think Max is as dirty as they get (at least he used to be and his reputation is that, even if he's clean lately), but the way they manage their team and funds is impressive.

Make more rules get less cars. Ump tire, this track tire, that track tire. In these days of tracks struggling to keep and get cars you would think it could all be a lot simpler.

can't afford to run a major show because of expense....runs 3 major late model operations??

Would it matter what they did in your eyes honestly?  If they show and don't meet your expectations (because that matters), you will have some way to knock them down.  If they do show and do well, you would still find a way to undermine what they accomplished.  Your dislike of them is clear and always has been.  As far as 3 major late model operations goes.  WoO and Lucas would be considered major.  These guys do well with what they have.  And contrary to what you or the other bleacher pros say, they are going to do it how they want and when they want.  At what point will people realize that they don't have to answer to anyone as long as they are running their own deal?

This post is kind of bewildering to me after I watched the video posted elsewhere here from McKean County Raceway last Thursday night. In that video the Blair car hit and kept turning into cars 4 different times, 1 car he slammed into twice. After he forced the leader off of the 2nd turn he was sent to the back. I guess my question is why he is being praised with this post but that video shows clear proof of an opposite type of driver?

I can answer why the Blairs didn't run the firecracker pretty easily. In order to be competitive they would have needed 16-20 tires that they could only run at one track. Anyone with half a brain can figure out that isn't financially feasible for a team that budgets themselves wisely.

$30,000 wouldn't have covered the tire bill?

If at first you don't succeed, then maybe you just suck.

Anything less than a top 3 is losing a lot of money. Don't play dumb, you know there is a bunch of factors in not running the firecracker, a $4k tire bill is just one of those. It also costs $12-15 per lap to run a motor, which for firecracker weekend would be around 200 laps or $2500-$3000

Sure, there are plenty of excuses for the best late model driver in the area, according to the Cavalcade points, not to come to the biggest race in the area.

I'm sure if all of these people that were dying to see him there pulled sponsorship money together, he would have ran. I personally never gave a thought to him not being there, I enjoyed the teams that did race. I'm just saying that I understand teams not wanting to blow their season budget on one race.

I'm bewildered at those in this thread implying that the Blair's are running on a shoestring budget. They're are very likely not. I guess the simple answer is they'd rather stay around Erie where they have a better than 50-50 shot of winning show paying 1500-2500 dollars than risking being a midpacker at a bigger show. I think Max would be fine, but they seem to be fairly risk averse.

Not taking any "sides" here, but remember a driver and race team learn things when they go and race with the best. And that means WoO, All Stars and Lucas when it comes to dirt track racing!!  But also, the Stateline-Erize circuit has about the strongest car counts and driver talent on the western PA Late Model circuit.    Max is the only repeat winner in nine races at Stateline!!    He has also won 3 times at Eriez and Robbie another 3 in that track's first eight races.

GOOD RACING!!!!

Walt
