What do you think will happen to NASCAR if Dale Jr. is unable to compete not just for two races but possibly career ending?  I pray this will not happen, but it has been brought up on other forums.

Probably nothing. There was nascar before him and there will be nascar after. The young talent is more plentiful than ever. If you haven't noticed he is 41 and on the back side of his career. He is not half of his old man and nascar survived that. Gordon probably a bigger hit and I don't miss him at all. Nice little conspiracy theory though LOL

With Blaney and Elliott, which I think everyone is watching along with other young talent, Jr. can go ride into the sunset and Nascrap will have plenty of young talent to watch. Come chase time a lot of the young guns are going to surprise some.  As for Jr., if HE believes his health is in jeopardy, then hang up the helmet. All the Daytona 500's mean nothing if you can't remember any of them. It may be a part that none of us see. Maybe he doesn't have the drive he at one time had. In today's Nascrap it takes so much more than just a driver. Yea I couldn't pass him because the air was blowing up my arsh and not on the nose. I wonder what would happen if you took the splitters off the front and the spoilers off the back of them. Then the driver would be the guy getting the car around the track, NOT, the engineers. Look at a Indy car with the air panels all over them. UGLIEST race car I have ever seen.

I agree completely that he should hang up the helmet if he has medical problems...he is only planning on competing for four or five more years ((if that)) anyway...also agree with the spoiler issue...racing back in the day was racing.

Look at all the guys that had to hand up their helmets because of concussions in the past 20 years, Ernie Irvin, Steve Park, Jerry Nadeau, Ricky Craven, etc. Look what happened to Bobby Allison, and now Fred Lorenzen. While not racing, one has to wonder if Ben Roethlisberger is a hit away not just from a career ending concussion, but something that might mess him up for ever. Same for Sidney Crosby, look how long it took him to recover from his last concussion.

I think the concussion deal is something that has been overlooked far too long, I did not know that was why Ricky Craven hung it up.

Steve Park didn't retire. He just went back to the northeast and ran K&N and modified stuff. The concussion washed him out of Cup, though.

I believe that I heard today that Dale Jr. is not racing for the next FOUR races. May wash him out of Cup also.

Now all of the "new nascar fans" will have to go watch grey's anatomy reruns on Netflix on Sundays.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.
