Some of you folks are amazingly ignorant. Even his biggest haters know he has more than one motor. Had the steel block in Friday night at Thunder mtn too. Since most people who post on here have never actually touched a racecar I guess it's not that hard too believe that you all don't know that engines get changed throughout the year. Witherite and Powell definitely both had steel blocks in at the bird. Next time get out of the bleachers (if you even go to the races) and buy a pit pass. I'm quite sure either of them would let you look for yourself anytime. i bet someone would even be glad to have some help while you're down there so you can finally add something positive to the sport.

Ya you must kiss his ass! I know theirs 2 motors but he's not changing them to race hummingbird when all the other tracks are aluminum blocks. Your the moron, if they don't check he's not changing motors! That's a lot of work and risk for 600$. You need to stay in the bleachers and ps your hero was on work release and lying of his location, not working on the farm!!!!!!!!!!

I don't have any affiliation with Charlie. I talk to him, and I also talk to plenty of people who hate on him. I probably even talk to YOU! I stay out of all that drama. But work and risk?! Lol. Now I KNOW you've never worked on a late model. It's pretty common practice to change engines. On rare occasions (I've never seen it done locally except in a sprint once) it can be accomplished between a heat and feature. I'm only sticking up for him because I SAW his motor myself. Had it in Friday when aluminum is allowed also...... And won. I guess that's hard to believe. Let chance2 tell you about his motor if you are having a hard time imagining anything but a Roush or Cornett can run up front.

Hummingbird should open that class up to include aluminumn ENGINES anyway.

If they would do that and bump the purse up to $1000 to win they'd fill that class every week.

They already have the new limited lates so now open the old limited class and call it super late !

Anybody who cant run with the supers can move down a class.

The fast half dozen steel block lates there now that are competative would run well against the aluminumn engine cars and probably win against them too !

Where would this extra purse money come from that you speak of?  You really think that Hummingbird would pull in enough cars to make up for the payout increase?  Doubtful.   Most of the guys running Supers will run Marion Center on a Saturday night.  I don't see the bird pulling any cars from Marion Center.  so the only way to make up the difference is to rob peter and pay Paul (Kot) lol.

As for the rest of the Neighsayers on here.  Charlie is a stand up guy and will talk to you about pretty much anything.  He'll try and help you out and even tell you what works for him.  so next time you are in doubt about his motor...ask!  Guarantee you that you'll eat your words of calling him a cheater and walk away dumb founded.  he's a good driver with good equipment plain and simple.

Well to start with...they had a whole extra class in the micro sprints that was dropped and nothing was added to the any of the purses from dropping them. And before you say that they all payed at the back gate and that generated money , so would the extra super lates. More people would come to watch super lates which equals extra dollars.
Sure there are other tracks that run supers on Saturday night but you know as well as I do people get pissed off at other tracks and would go someplace else just because. Opening the lates up to include aluminumn engine cars just makes good sense. If the drivers don't have to change their cars to run a new track they're more apt to do so. And forget about the weight difference, let them run as is, it don't make that much difference anyway. An ill handling car won't win regardless of its weight. Scale your car to the weight you have and it won't be an issue. Luke Hoffner used to run hummingbird and his car tipped the scales at over 2600# and look how many races he won.

steel block late models,, the thought was hold down the cost. well just like all things in racing cost will get out of hand.  so when you need a steel block to contain 800 hp you must go aftermarket.. the price difference between aluminum and steel aftermarket is 1500.00  so for 1500.00 you keep out other cars.  if you think you are protecting the locals by keeping the big money guys out [you are not]. you will end up with a class so divided there will be 6 out of 20 cars that can win and the rest just follow around the pack hoping the top 6 fall out.   in light of whats happening with car counts aluminum blocks probably should be allowed.  the poor mans steel block class is getting smaller by the year. you now have a 358 late model class for those who dont want to spend a house on a motor to race at their favorite track.  open up the supers,, let nature take its course.  maybe the 358 class will grow so big you dont need the supers any more.   or the supers could race a few times per year with special shows.  i quit racing steel block latemodels because 20 thousand dollars for a motor i cant compete at other tracks with just does not make sense. i bet other drivers feel the same. 358s for me. that class makes perfect sense to racers and will grow!

Well Pro Dirt, I never said I was against opening up the Lates to include Aluminum motors.  But you know as well as I do that the payout wont increase from 800 to win to 1000 to win.  Just isn't going to happen.  unless you could guarantee 24 lates a night there would be no cause to raise the payouts.  Super guys aren't going to race for $800 when they can go to marion Center and Thunder mountain and race for $1000.  Sure you'll get a few people you always do.  but no way are you getting enough people to justify raising the purse $200 to win.  People often forget....Running a Racing venue is a business.  People only see it from one point of view.  Fans "well that guy sucks, I could do a better job if he'd let me drive his car. or the Track looks like shit this dust sucks I'm not coming back"  Driver:  "Man I don't have the money these other guys do.  If only the track would pay better I could afford better equipment....if things don't change I'm going somewhere else."  Track: "We can't afford to hire someone to work the track all week, Hope we get good car counts this week, we need a good show to be able to survive next week."

quit complaining about classes and payouts.  racings a hobby.  if you're in it to make money, you're in it for the wrong reasons.  support your local tracks and quit bitching.  lend a hand.

Hummingbirds pay out for the Steelblocks is 600.00, so if they open it up to aluminum motors who will show up for that.

BRC27, this has been hashed out about other tracks. People just don"t get it or they just want to complain, not sure. But, i agree with you support your track, maybe take a night go to the pits and help a driver. Look things change it is getting harder for all drivers, track owners and yes the fans. Enjoy the racing and have some fun. Life is to short.
