Joe Martin & Clint Hersh Take First Dog Hollow Checkers On Children’s Cancer Benefit Night; Schneider, Smith & Theys Are Repeat Winners.

STRONGSTOWN, PA (July 29, 2016) – Mayport driver Joe Martin parked in victory lane for the first time in the Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Models while Somerset’s Clint Hersh won for the first time in the Lias Tire CARS Crate Late Models. Repeat winners on Children’s Cancer Benefit Night were Kyle Smith, Jr. (AMSOIL Pure Stocks), Jack Theys (DM Craig Fabrication & Welding FWD 4 Cylinders) and Chris Schneider (RD Shaffer Well Services Street Stocks). The quickly run show was over by 10:40.
Heat winner Chris Schneider, of Springdale, had the field covered in the RD Shaffer Well Services Street Stocks. Schneider led all 15 laps to score his second win of the season at Dog Hollow. Nate Smith was second over Joe Wrona, Brett Bingaman, Ray Hickok, Jr. and Mike Desch.
The 15-lap AMSOIL Pure Stock feature was up next and it was rookie driver Rick Wicker taking the initial lead at the drop of the green. Wicker led the first five laps. On a restart Windber’s Kyle Smith, Jr. powered into the top spot and led the final ten laps. It was his fifth win of the season. Brad Nesline came home second over Wicker, John Hayes and Shane Nihart. Sixth through tenth were Brian Savino, Duke Davidson, Ben Franklin, Wayland King and Fred Casagni. Wicker and Tyler Wagner were heat winners.
Shawn Claar led the first two laps of the Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Model feature. A jump on a restart saw the lead turned over to Joe Martin. Martin kept Claar at bay as seventh starting Dan Angelicchio worked his way forward. Angelicchio took the second spot from Claar on lap 16 and then set his sights on the high flying Martin. He closed the gap and reeled in the leader the final two laps. Angelicchio was looking to make the pass but Martin wisely used a lapped car to fend off the last lap challenge for his first Super Late Model win at Dog Hollow. Angelicchio was second over Shawn Claar, Devin Friese, Scott Rhodes, Dave Blazavich, Andy Fries, Chad McClellan, Dwayne Taneyhill and Ryan Christoff. Heats were won by Claar and Martin.
The 20-lap Lias Tire CARS Crate Late Models found Andrew Satterlee lead from his pole starting spot. Satterlee was replaced in the number one spot on a lap three restart by Jeremy Shaffer. Shaffer began to pull away until Clint Hersh started to reel him in. Hersh made the winning pass on lap fifteen and went on to his career first Dog Hollow feature win. Shaffer, Mike Laughard, Satterlee, Joe Moyer, Dave Lee, Dave Blazavich, Jon Lee, Paul Ivory and Corey Neal rounded out the top ten. Picking up the heat wins were Satterlee and Shaffer.
In one of the best battles of the night South Fork’s Jack They took the lead with just three laps left in the DM Craig Fabrication & Welding Services FWD 4 Cylinder feature. Pat Brehm led the first nine laps with Theys and Mike Phillipson in a three way battle royal. Theys found an opening on lap nine and went on to claim his fourth feature win this season. Filling out the top ten were Brehm, Phillipson, Brady Miller, Chuck Dizzle, Dylan Young, Michael Boozel, Jamie Noel, John Costa and Cody Young. Brehm won the lone heat.

I wasn't there to know what you're referring to, but there's a few ways that's possible depending on the tracks rules. If they have a start zone, or a cone/stripe set up and the leader goes too soon, or if it's just blatantly early like on the backstretch or going into turn 3. Some tracks start off the flag man too, so if you go before the green flies.
