Flick, King, Williamson & McPherson all repeat winners

Over $3,000 donated to the Steve King Foundation Injured Drivers’ Fund

Sarver, PA (August 5, 2016) The theme of the night was repeat winners in Dlubak Powder Coatings Victory Lane as AJ Flick and Russ King won their third features of the season, while Mat Williamson won his seventh and Corey McPherson his fourth.  The bookend features, Peoples Natural Gas Sprints and Pic-A-Part Sportsman, were both marred by multiple crashes, but ultimately, nobody was seriously injured.

Scott Priester took the hardest lick of the night after making heavy contact with the turn four wall.  Good news came from the Priester Racing Twitter account that a battery of test found no broken bones or serious injuries, but he is very sore.  Andrew Palker and Clay Riney were also bitten by the wall in the same turn; Palker continued and rallied to a seventh place finish, but Riney hit hard and got upside down.  AJ Flick endured the yellow and red flag sessions to tally his third feature win of the season and chip away at Jack Sodeman Jr.’s points lead.

In the Pic-A-Part Sportsman feature, the race was more like a demolition derby with multiple crashes, all of which could have been avoided with cooler heads and cleaner races.  Out front, Corey McPherson led wire-to-wire from the front row to secure his fourth feature win of the season and extend his points lead over Joey Zambotti whom was sent to the pits for rough driving and scored as he was running in ninth.

In between, both Russ King and Mat Williamson passed early leaders Michael Norris and Jimmy Weller III to win their third and seventh features respectively in the Precise Late Models and Diehl Modifieds.

Finally, we’re thrilled to report that Jackie Matus, Bill Beck and their crew raised over $3,000 for the Steve King Foundation Injured Drivers’ Fund.

I'm a little bothered that Egley and Zambotti got black flagged, but Flinner, Kelly and the Kings get away with whatever they want.  I'm glad to see a crackdown, but why is it not applied the same to everyone?  I'm a bit of an idealist and hate that the above mentioned drivers have one set of rules and everyone else has another.  I'm not opposed to hard racing, but Flinner, Kelly and the Kings take guys out, a lot.  Zambotti and Egley are not usually dirty and they get penalized.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

Different thread, same problem, you're clueless. Give one specific example of any of those three drivers "taking someone out" this year the way Egley and Zambotti did tonight.  Egley was beating on Joey and Joey lost his cool.  Do Flinner and Russ drive over their heads sometimes?  Sure.  Are they overly aggressive at times? Absolutely, but neither has taken anyone out.  Kelley has been more of a pinball this year than anything, it seems you just have a hard-on for him.

For the same reason i don't like flinner.  If I want a demo derby, I'll go to a demo derby, or watch nascrap.  I don't watch nascrap.

So that's a no on specific examples?  You just don't like him, so he's a dirty driver, strong rationale there.  I'm sure both lose sleep each night knowing you don't like them.

So you want me to give you a date and a lap number or something?  It's like asking for examples of politicians lying.  I don't write down every time kelly or flinner spin and wreck other drivers.  If you think they don't, you aren't watching the race.  Before the slide job last week, flinner put his nose all the way into Pegher's left rear.  It's really hard to defend a slide job with a cut tire.

Last night Cooter took out Winkle, and himself.  Winkle got back out.  Cooter didn't.

It's not that I just don't like these guys. I don't like these guys because they wreck people.

Maybe a little bit of karma, as Winkle snowplowed Mat Williamson in turn 4 a lap before.  I don't agree that the Kings are any more reckless than any of the other competitors at Lernerville.  They all have their moments.

I think King blamed winkle for putting him out over the exit of 2 and part of the backstretch a few laps earlier. King seemed to target winkle. That's why he did it.The King's have raced the cleanest season overall, that's OVERALL, I've seen THEM run.

I'm still on the fence about the Kings.  Sometimes Russ and Cooter seem to go after guys, and others they just drive.  Contact happens in racing, so it's really not the incidental stuff that bothers me, and some drivers are good at making contact appear incidental.  Then there are drivers who almost never touch anyone.  Matt Williamson is wicked fast and I've never seen him start anything.
