38 cars for the 5k, 50 lap special. A lot of quality in the field. Track a little rough early but got beautiful slick and racy as the night went on.

Time trials were cool to see there. 4 groups fast timers in each group were Mike Norris, Max Blair, Billy Eash, and I'm not sure of group 4 but I think it was Keith Barbara, correct me if I'm wrong.

Blair and Barbara started on the front row, Barbara led most but Max challenged passed him once or twice. Good racing by those two and a lot of good racing through the field. The top 15 or so were really mixing it up at times.

Congrats to Barbara on the win.

Rundown through 9th, not sure after that.

1.Keith Barbara
2.Max Blair
3.Alex Ferree (from 9th)
4.Dave Hess
5.Matt Lux
6.Devin Friese (from 11th)
7.Rick Singleton
8.Billy Eash (from 12th)
9.Doug Glessner (from 16th)

Good night, congrats to MC on 50 years.

After that I can't help. I don't know them cause I am not a regular.
Norris pulled out after running third falling to sixth and ended up 17th.
Pegher was smoking to end heat and never made it for A

I would have expected a different field of Late Models for 5k to win.    Quality drivers yes, but most of those guys run there on a regular basis.

I was wondering how was the crowd at Marion Center? I couldn't make the 3 hour drive because I had to work late.

MARION CENTER SPEEDWAY:  August 6, 2016

Marion Center Speedway’s 50th Anniversary Season celebration continued after a break last week due to rain.  The Golden Anniversary Race, the Late Model Challenge - the 50 lap $5000 to win Late Model Challenge that would allow the Steel Block Late Models to run with the Super Late Models was held Saturday night at the quarter-mile clay oval along with the other previously scheduled races which were the Pro-Stock Special 25 lap feature paying $500 to win and the Strictly Stock 20 lap feature paying $350 to win and the “Dave and Belle Thrill on the Hill Dash” for the Late Models.  Things started to warm up on the track with ‘Hot Laps’ for the Late Models and then the Time Trials for the Golden Anniversary Race were held and that set the pace for the rest of the night’s events that were made possible in part by our sponsors including Maniac Chassis and Huey Brothers Inc..  Here’s what happened on the track:

The Late Models were at the track in full force Saturday night for the Golden Anniversary Celebration of Marion Center Speedway and shining like a golden nugget amongst them was Keith Barbara from South Park .  Barbara started on the pole after posting a great time in the Time Trials and finishing second to Rick Singleton in his heat race.  After winning the Dave and Belle, Thrill on the Hill Dash comprised of the top eight competitors there for the night, one just knew Keith Barbara was one to watch and contend with if you were running for the top prizes.  The fifty-lap feature started with 24 cars in the field and Barbara was the lead man starting on the outside pole.  When the green flag started the race, Barbara took the lead with pole sitter, Max Blair hot on his heels.  The two rivals went around and around for fifty laps nose to tail and side by side through incidents and accidents ‘til the checkered flags were thrown and Keith Barbara made his way to the Integra Racing Shocks Winner’s Circle where he was presented with a check for $5000 and huge trophy plus a commemorative mug made up for the Speedway’s 50th Anniversary by Crooked Creek Creations.  Max Blair was a close second to Barbara and Dave Hess, Jr. finished third.  The complete final results of the feature are:  1) Keith Barbara, 2) Max Blair, 3) Dave Hess, Jr., 4) Alex Ferree, 5) Matt Lux, 6) Devin Friese, 7) Rick Singleton, 8) Billy Eash, 9) Doug Glessner, 10) Charlie Powell, Jr., 11) Tommy Beck, 12) Ken Schaltenbrand, 13) Tom Shaffer, 14) Benny Gordon, 15) Sammy Stile, 16) Mike Blose, 17) Mike Norris, 18) Cheyenne Reed, 19) Andrew Gordon, 20) Daniel Angelicchio, 21) Clate Copeman, 22) Justin Kann, 23) Joe Petyak, 24) Jayme Beck.  As was mentioned earlier, the Dave and Belle Thrill on the Hill Dash was won by Keith Barbara and it’s final results were 1) Keith Barbara, 2) Dave Hess, Jr., 3) Mike Norris, 4) Rick Singleton, 5) Dan Angelicchio, 6) Matt Lux, 7) Clayton Copeman, 8) Max Blair.  In the preliminary heat races the winners were Mike Norris, Matt Lux, Max Blair, and Rick Singleton.  There was also a ‘B-Main #1’ and a B-Main #2; those winners were #1- Andrew Gordon and #2 - Tom Beck.  Also, winners for Saturday night include Doug Glessner who was the recipient of an American Racer racing tire compliments of Lias Tire of Indiana for being the first racer finishing the feature on American Racer Tires; and Tom Shaffer won a Hoosier Racing Tire from Bubba’s Racing Supplies of Brookville in a random drawing for that prize.

The night’s celebration also included racing in the Texas Auto Ranch Pro-Stock division.  In the Pro-Stock feature, Ryan Seager was the winner which was a nice treat for the new comer to the track this season.  Seager started on the pole and led every one of the 25 laps to visit the Integra racing Shocks Winner’s Circle and receive a check for $500 and his commemorative mug and trophy.  The final results of the Texas Auto Ranch Pro-Stock Feature are 1) Ryan Seager, 2) Ray Hickok, Jr., 3) Bob Rosman, 4) Noah Brunell, 5) Rich Waltman, 6) Bill Phillips, Jr., 7)Gary Furman, Jr. 8) Jim Fosnaught, 9) Ray Reynolds, 10) Allen English, 11) Trevor McCann, 12) Tony Iarrapino, 13) Sam McAdams.  The winners of the Texas Auto Ranch Pro-Stock heat races were Jim Fosnaught and Noah Brunell.

The Willow Farm Campground Strictly Stocks were out for the night as well.  The Winner of the twenty-lap feature and $350 top prize was Nick Fulmer from Marion Center .  Nick started the feature race in sixth position with Chris Hickok on the pole.  After Hickok led the first nine laps of the race, Nick Fulmer was in position to take over the lead when Hickok went off the track with a flat tire.  Fulmer was able to hold off the others including Gary Fulmer who took second after starting fourth and Ryan Caldwell who moved up from eighth to finish third.  The results of the Willow Farm Campground Strictly Stock feature are:  1) Nick Fulmer, 2) Gary Fulmer, 3) Ryan Caldwell, 4) Jim Hamilton, 5) Anthony Monteparte, 6) Jim Decker, 7) Jim Miller, 8) Larry Brewer, 9) Chris Hickok, 10) Tom Lauffer, 11) Fran Michny, 12) Rich Waltman, Jr., 13) Dean Haight, 14) Nick Erskine (DQ).  The Willow Farm Campground Strictly Stock heat races were won by Chris Hickok and Gary Fulmer.

There’s a whole lot happening this season at Marion Center Speedway with events scheduled every Saturday night with lots of specials like next weekends Pisano’s Personal Care Home Steel Block Limited Late Model Special and the “Thrill on the Hill Music Festival” over Labor Day Weekend.  The Music Festival will feature artists such as Mark & Sean, On the Brink, Jukehouse Bombers, Crushing Ground, Byron King, and Somebody to Love.  Check out the website for times and possibly other artists too.  A new addition to the Speedway’s schedule is an Antique Tractor and Truck Pull on October 1.  And don’t forget about the Marion Center Speedway Kid’s Club.  Saturday, August 20 is the next running of Kid’s Bike Races.   Kids bring your bicycles and helmets to participate in the bike races at intermission on August 20. Keep up to date by checking the internet because there’s a whole lot more information and news relating to the season on the website:  marioncenterspeedway.net which is the ONLY Official Website of Marion Center Speedway.  All others are Not Associated with MCS and may not contain official information; or you can follow us on facebook, or catch up on twitter or the blog with what’s happening. You can also make sure you don’t make that unnecessary drive up to the top of the hill if we’re rained out by signing up for text messages or e-mails from “Rainedout.com” and receive up to the minute messages if the track should cancel for the night –and it’s free!  Plus there’s the NEWEST Race Day Hotline phone number 724-397-2173 to call on days of events only for a recorded message of the status of the events for the day.

This is the 50th Anniversary Season at Marion Center Speedway being under the care and ownership of the Potts Family, and this year looks spectacular with all the events and specials that are planned.  We really thank all our sponsors over the years and especially those on board this year like Lias Tire and Cooper Tires, W. G. Satterlee & Sons, Huey Brothers, Inc., Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic, Willow Farm Campground, American Racer/ Lias Tire,     B D Laraway and Associates, Pisano’s Personal Care Home, Force Inc., East American Motorsports, Texas Auto Ranch, W G M Gas Company, Inc., Integra Racing Shocks, Sy’s Pizza and Sub Shop.  Also thanks to Rich’s Garage at 724-388-6462 for all their help to keep things going for the season, Bubba’s Racing Supplies, Stello Foods, Colonial Motor Mart, Maniac Chassis, Rossiter Volunteer Fire Company and of course, Butler Auto Supplies once again sponsoring our Season Championships.

Marion Center Speedway is looking forward to the rest of the 2016 Racing Season, the 50th Anniversary Racing Season at MCS under the continued direction of the Potts Family.  Hope to see you at "The Thrill On The Hill" Marion Center Speedway, “The Little Track With The BIG Attitude.”
