FASTRAK Divisional Points Races in Stretch Drive as World Championship Weekend Nears

CARNESVILLE, Georgia (8/172016)-  Over the years, the FASTRAK Racing Series has garnered a reputation for consistently asking for, and responding to race team input across the board in relation to establishing programs designed to recognize, acknowledge and reward race teams through FASTRAK Racing Series championship opportunities attainable on virtually every budget and resource level.

Customarily, when the desktop calendar hits mid-August, anticipation begins to build in preparation for the FASTRAK Racing Series World Championship Weekend at Virginia Motor Speedway. The 2016 installment of FASTRAK World Championship Weekend consists of two marquee events. On Friday, September 16, the FASTRAK World Challenge takes place with FASTRAK Racing Series members competing in a race all their own where the winner collects $5000. On Saturday, the $15,000 To Win / $500 To Start FASTRAK World Championship rolls off in what is referred to as the Super Bowl for GM Performance powered Pro Crate Late Models. History of sorts will be made come September 17th as this year will mark the first time the $15,000 To Win/$500 To Start FASTRAK World Championship is an OPEN EVENT. Drivers do not have to be FASTRAK members to compete.

While a win at the FASTRAK World Championship Weekend often opens doors in career changing fashion, the FASTRAK Racing Series will have just wrapped up perhaps the most comprehensive championship rich program offered in Pro (crate) Late Model racing.

All things considered, seven of twelve champions to be crowned at the annual FASTRAK Racing Series National Awards Banquet in January will have earned their place on stage via a program that does not require a driver to endure the expense of travel. Through its Divisional Points
Championship Program, FASTRAK drivers compete against drivers at other tracks in their division. Each division has its own point fund and points are awarded throughout the year and conclude the weekend before the FASTRAK World Championship Weekend.

In its first year, the FASTRAK Divisional Points Championship concept has proven to be popular. To date, 359 drivers have competed in 137 events.

The success of the FASTRAK Divisional Points Championship program is significant. Travel is not required, nor is competing in 50 events necessary.

With only four race weekends left to earn points, based on raw points totals, the current standings in all six divisions indicate each divisional point championship is up for grabs and most likely won’t be decided until the final weekend.

David McCoy of Franklin, NC who has competed in 28 events thus far in 2016 sits atop the Division 1 points ahead of Colby Cannon of Greenwood, SC. Ronda, NC driver Matthew Nance leads in Division 2 ahead of Jimmy McNamara of Denver, NC.  Division 3 has Tyler Arrington of Honaker, VA, Teddy Tate of Rural Retreat, VA and Trevor Cregger of Christiansburg, VA locked in a tight battle.

Virginia Motor Speedway is at the center of Division 5. Currently the Division 5 contest is perhaps the most tightly contested battle in play. Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA holds a scant two-point advantage over Stephen Childress of St, Stephens, VA. Tyler Bare of Rockbridge Baths, VA, is just six markers back and Mark Parks of Forrest, VA and Appomattox, VA driver Corey Almond are tied just two ticks behind Bare.

Division 6 is comprised of Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, WV, Elkins Raceway in Elkins WV and Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg, PA. Part of the FASTRAK Mid-Ohio Valley region, Division 6 has seen 96 drivers compete weekly for the much sought after Division 6 title.

Tyler Stutler of Lost Creek, WV shares top billing with Division 1’s David McCoy in terms of having competed in the most events to date in 2016. Like McCoy, Stutler has competed in 28 events and finds himself atop the Division 6 points

Divisional point races are set to conclude the weekend before FASTRAK World Championship Weekend.

With Divisional points races this tight, clearly, the best racing is yet to come.
