i ventured out to Midvale Speedway for the first time in about 15 years to see the Outlaw Asphalt Late Models (Main Event Cars).  I had read on Racestuds from members of the Pgh. Circle Track Club about all the improvements that have been made there, but, WOW, the track is now a showpiece.   Concrete steps (poured by legendary racer Tony Diano) with concrete and asphalt walkways everywhere, fantastic bathrooms, wooden seats with backs on concrete bases with enough room between the rows that you don't have to even move when someone wants to get by, and good food at reasonable prices. Also on the card were the Outlaw Asphalt Modifieds, Street Stocks, and Compacts (4 cyl).  Was a great night of racing, and if PPMS closes in the near future, I think I found my new Saturday night home.  And yes, there was plenty of passing on the fast 1/3 mile banked asphalt track.  Midvale is 87 miles from downtown Pittsburgh, and obviously less if you live west of town.

Flash, my son and I also made the trip out to Midvale last night and it was a great time. We went there last year on the same weekend and you are right, that place is one of the nicest facilities in the area. Really I think the only place that's as nice or nicer is Jennerstown but the racing in all divisions last night at Midvale would be hard to beat. They only had 9 Main Event cars which was a little disappointing but even with 9 cars it was an exciting race, didn't end the way I thought it would. I think this is becoming my Labor Day tradition, Lernerville on Saturday and Midvale on Sunday. We've done it the last 2 years and it's been great.

I'd have to bring a bag of dust to truly feel I was at a race track!

PMS is not closing anytime soon, contrary to the erroneous press by the Post Gazette.

While I agree there is NOTHING better than a good sprint car or super late race on dirt it was nice to leave my safety glasses in the car for the evening!
