I just don't get the point in making you run a $6k motor in a class that pays 300 to win. I never spent more than $4500. on a motor & I won some races & had a lot of fun doing it my way. you clowns don't get it!! crate only racing ain't cheep they brake & you cant work on your own stuff. I guess you just like watching rich kids play? I'd stop complaining if they went back to last years rules & let us all race.

Agree let the open and crates race together what"s the problem with that! Walt, i do respect your knowledge of racing you have been around it a little longer than me. Now tell you haven"t seen some great racing over the years where the racers built their motors, i know or someone else did. Point is no one told them what motor they had to use. In my OP all this dose is take the real fun out of racing.

Way off 55 I go to LV to watch the Sprint but always stay to the end because the Stock have put on Good shows for years, This past year they had good racing front to back, 8 different winners, winners from 11th,9th,8 th 5th....., so the racing was still good if it wasn't I would have gone home.

On another note:
The 604 is $5,700.00 new you can buy a good used one for $2,500.00 to $3,000.00 a new 602 is under $3,000.00
Like I stated earlier go to Mercer, MC, PMS, Dog hollow...... They are all less than $20.00 away in fuel cost, go race and have fun.

Then again that's why I like Sprint cars very few rule changes.

I imagine a lot of people would like to watch a bunch of cars running side by side.  That sounds entertaining.

You can pull alongside, but don't have a snowball's chance of actually making a pass, and then you got out of line, so now you lost 4 spots just for trying to advance.  There are 3 or 4 cars at Lernerville that can pass on the bottom in the sportsman class, everyone else has to follow the guy in front and hope he jumps the cushion, or breaks.  Cost of ownership on those motors will close the class down.  When what should cost $20 costs $4,000 it did not save anyone money.

Just my observation, and I know it's disputable.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

greencar55  they already have a sprint class in NH wingless crate sprint. In my OP just a matter of time. Really do not think the 410 sprints will be replaced, they will just add them to a new class and drop another class. Just a thought nothing more.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a forehead gasket? I've heard of head gaskets, but never forehead gaskets.

They already have them!
I went to Knoxville and watched them run with the 360's they are less money and the nights I watched they finished up front, I know they won also.
Savings is about $20,000.00 over top of the line 360.Call Don Blackshear at PACE he can get you all the information you need.
They also have a wingless 604 series in Indiana.

I don't think so. I'm sure who ever told you missed a couple of heads or the intake or a piston or it was totally rebuilt with new head gasket.

Not that's it's any of your concern or anybody else's Bob but you need to get your facts straight before coming on here and making comments. I am the one who had to get my engine looked at. My water pump went and heated up the engine. It blew both head gaskets and ruined both heads. If you look up the cost of a set of aluminum heads, gaskets, seals, bolts and labor then you'll find out what the price costs. Not sure who you talk to or where you get your info but you could ask before making assumptions. Racing isn't cheap for any of us. I felt your pain and other people's when Lernerville changed the rules but it's done and over with. They've moved forward and crates are what they want for stocks. It's a kick in the pants when you live close to a track you raced for years and you can't run there because of the rules but bottom line is either adapt and move on or find somewhere else to race. I can't speak for everybody here but the racing doesn't seem much different to me. I've started in the back, middle and front of races this year and have made my way to the front of the pack. The only problem I've had was on a very heavy, slimy track but that can affect anybody in any division. We've had multiple winners from first time winners to drivers who have won before so I'd say that the racing has been good and the crate engine rule is working there. Look at how well the crates ran against the few open engines that showed up to this past weekends race. In my opinion the crate engines are here to stay and I'll continue to run mine in the future. Good luck with whatever it is you decide to do.

sorry Jim I didn't mean to offend you & I figured you had to replace the heads for that kind of money. what sucks is the heads I ran for years were $500 a set new from GM & I could install them myself. and as far as passing cars the last time I ran a full season I passed 84 cars in the feature races in one year. do that with a crate & I will shut up.

I really don't get what passing 84 cars in a whole season in features has to do with it. Pill draw determines the top 11 positions (the winner from the previous week always starts 12th if they make pill draw through there heat) and with luck of the draw you could start up front every week. Depending on how many features you run in a season (rainouts, mechanical issues, dnf's and not starting features are all factors) a driver could easily pass that many cars. I bet most of the front runners this year passed that many cars all season in features. We ran 19 races (15 regular nights and 4 "special" races). So average that out. The math is pretty easy. 84 divided by 15 = 5.6 so we'll say a driver would have to pass 6 cars a night and 84 divided by 19 = 4.42...so we'll say a driver has to pass 4 to 5 cars a night. Depending on starting position and how many features ran, that's not very hard to do. By the way, who keeps track of how many cars they pass in a feature?? That isn't a statistic most people keep track of in racing. Heat wins, feature wins, top 3's, top 5's and top 10's along with points are what's kept track of.
