Peoples Natural Gas hopes to use Steel City Stampede as venue to help those in need

October 2, 2016 (Sarver, PA) Lernerville Speedway, owned and operated by the Tomson family, is happy to announce a partnership with Peoples Natural Gas and Classic Ink.  Classic Ink will be the presenting sponsor of the Peoples Natural Gas DIRTcar Round Up Steel City Stampede; scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, October 13, 14 and 15.

As this race weekend marks the final event of Lernerville’s 2016 season, our thoughts move toward the cold winter that fast approaches and that some of our most loyal fans may not be able to afford to heat their homes or make critical repairs to their furnaces.  Peoples Natural Gas, Classic Ink and Lernerville Speedway hope to use the final race of the season as a platform to inform race fans about extra money that is available for utility bills and to repair or replace broken furnaces and boilers.

LIHEAP, (Low Income Heating Energy Assistance Program), will open in Pennsylvania on November 1, 2016.  This is a federally funded program that pays a grant of money to a person’s utility company or fuel provider.  There are income guidelines that apply.  This grant can be applied toward natural gas, electric, oil, propane or wood.  Applications are available online beginning November 1, 2016 at www.compass.state.pa.us.  Applications can also be picked up at county assistance offices or by calling 1.866.857.7095 beginning November 1.

LIHEAP also features a repair program for broken furnaces or boilers beginning November 1, 2016. Persons in need of a furnace repair or line repair should go in person to or call their local county assistance office to apply.  Also, on weekends the phone number of 1.866.857.795 can be used if a person needs assistance with a broken furnace or boiler.   This repair program is available to those who heat with gas, electric, oil, or propane.

On November 1, if someone is out of oil, propane, wood, or is someone has been or is having a service termination by a utility company, they can apply as well for additional funding to have a delivery, restore service or stop a termination.

The Steel City Stampede provides the perfect venue to provide timely information about LIHEAP to race fans in our community as it is scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, October 13, 14 and 15; just a couple of weeks before LIHEAP opens on November 1.

As the race approaches, Peoples Natural Gas, Classic Ink and Lernerville Speedway will work together to provide information and reminders to ensure that race fans from all over Western PA will have warm homes and safe environments for the elderly and children.

For more information about the Peoples Natural Gas DIRTcar Round Up Steel City Stampede presented by Classic Ink can be found on our website at: http://www.lernervil...y-stampede.html and tickets for the three-day event can be purchased at: http://lernervilleti...l-city-stampede

Move the race back a week so it does not conflict with other events

What's it conflicting with LOCALLY???   Maybe something a half-day's drive away, but only a small percentage of fans travel that far!!

Everything other than the Dirt Track World Championship was moved to that weekend, the WoO at Port Royal has been opposite for the last couple years.

Brilliant Marketing on behalf of Peoples!    The stands are always full of people who would let their family starve so they can watch the races.   The ones who chose to blow $ on entertainment, rather than responsibility.    What better of a way to reach them!

It is a Public awareness promotion !

And why not in Racing !

Think of it this way

Pretend there was a Federal grant for helping taxpayers use the tax code like the Clintons and Donald Trump ( and  anyone else willing to READ!) to their advantage just the way the Democrats wrote it to fleece the " Working Man " and not REALLY the rich!.

The people in the stands are not using their fuel money to go to the races ( maybe to build their racecar ! )

but there are 5000 people there that may have a neighbor or old friend that may need the assistance .

I mean the assistance to pay their bill ... and not the assistance to save paying Federal Income tax like the Clintons!( who showed a 750,000 loss for 2015 and pay no federal income tax! )

would it not be good for the " Working Man " up there in the stands watching a race!??

Peoples gets paid some of what is owed to them and may not have to terminate service

Poor people get 300 bucks one time to help them out

why not racing people !?

If it was H&R Block and a Federal grant doing the promotion .. would you say " Great marketing " Teaching people how to not pay taxes like the Clintons!?

This is a great partnership for racing!

I have to agree that this is a great venue in which to promote a program that so many need. Alot of customers are not aware of this program and I am sure Peoples are just trying to let the public know that help is out there if they need it. Don't knock a sponsor for actually trying to help out not only the track but the fans as well.
