Premature, no one has the answer. We all have opinions. We all have heard the various rumblings. I for one hope that this year's Pittsburgh will be one talked about for many years to come. I remember sitting shoulder to shoulder in those seats watching many great races. The place has gone thru many trying times. Some, including me, that no one could ever understand. But, if this is the last horrah for the speedway I can say I have seen a lot of really good racing at the track. In these trying times I feel the decisions know being made are not easy one's. I for one will will be sorry to see the heavy equipment come in and the blades and cutting torches start to do there destruction. Many, many people should be remembered from owners, racers, staff and on and on. The names are endless. I hope to see the Red Miley memorial race continue, he did many things for dirt track racing. Someone needs to pick up the Herb Scott and the Ed Laboon classic. In its short history the race has become a staple for the penn Ohio series. My memories go far beyond the day they opened the gates for the first race. A great deal of objects and structures that came from Heidelberg. I used to sit in those same stands at Heidelberg as a child. I hope that if this is the last hurrah that after the races are over and you stand up to leave, take a moment and remember all the good racing you have seen over the years. PPMS, thanks, the memories will live on for years to come.

We all have memories some good some bad but the racing was all was good. I truly hope PPMS will be around so we can make future memories, if not i"ll just watch my DVD"s of my Son and Grand Daughter when they raced. Even have a DVD when Davey Lee drove his car. So yeah, those memories will live on!

The Pittsburgher is on the 2017 Lucas Oil schedule. There was a thread a while ago about the surveying at the track, you must have missed it. Let's just say it didn't go well and the only good thing the track grounds are good for is a racetrack.

You can affect racings  future  allot more on November 8th than 47% of Americans are  willing to understand.

Matt Miley has stated they will operate next year like Walt said!

They are Racers and always have been !

Nobody in western pa wants to race more than the Mileys !

One thing matt said that always sticks with me about that track .

Something to the effect  of : go ahead and run this race track if you think it is so easy but

" DONT QUIT YOUR DAY JOB "

A lot of rumors going around on Mercer!!  The only thing i know for sure is that Bill Altman wants out.  I hear there are several people interested, but price may be a sticking point. Sure hope it all works out as I have a lot of memories with that old place. That was where I first announced races way back about 1973!!   STILL HAVING FUN!!!

GOOD RACING TO ALL!!!

A bigger problem than the price is buyers getting financing. Bill is not going to finance the track for a prospective buyer. There have been a couple interested parties, but they wanted Bill to hold the mortage on the place. He got burned big time doing that when he sold his trucking company and the buyer went belly up. Any buyer will need to get their own financing which nobody has been able to do.

Most of these race tracks are only worth the land they sit on for other development.  And with that there is the added cost of demolition.    There aren't too many race tracks making much money these days, so buying a race track is just that.   It is not buying a high cash flowing business.    Most of these track owners want a ridiculous price for the tracks, that could never even pay off a mortgage through the race track operation.     Didn't Mercer sell for over $1 million when Altman bought it?    It definitely isn't worth half that much.......

They kept breaking bits while trying to drill. It would could cost millions to run water and sewage to the track grounds. It's an old strip mine, it's all rock. There's a reason why most old strip mines still lay empty.
