I see your perspective, but on the other side of the coin:
Supers never seem to run any better than the steel blocks there, and they have a growing limited class for anyone who thinks they won't be competitive with the regular lates.

The cost was very high for a good steelblock and only 5 or 6 guys could hang or win against an all alum engine. An all alum engine can coast far more to build,better cam selections,way more top talent teams with large budgets can just stop on way to another track to cherry pick the money,the want that for their card all ready been with them for years, YOU JUST RUINED IT! Also your gonna do that then pay a grand to win like all tracks do

First of all asswipe steel blocks make just as much power as an aluminum block and it doesn't cost anymore to build other than the block which a guy can buy a good used aluminum block for the price they pay for a new dart iron block or less. Secondly there's only a handful of guys that run up front there now. That track is an equalizer for aluminum vs steel. Don't believe me just go back on the results from the Mick Orsich races from the past. You want to do some research and educate yourself before you comment again and make yourself look even dumber.

You are correct when you say the block doesn't matter, it doesn't,what does matter however is the top end and the degree. A lot of aluminum motors are sitting at say a 13 or 9 degree setup for optimal power and torque curve, sure you can build that in a steelblock,but how many local steelblock motors have that setup,I believe that's what the concern is of someone not wanting to combine them but with that being said. The track dimensions can somewhat off set that concern,i see steelblock regulars compete right up there with the best of aluminum guys at these smaller tracks,it's sort of like guys changing chassis constantly,thinking one is better than the other.ultimately in my opinion it's all in what you do with it and having a good pilot behind the wheel

You know that if you win with an aluminum block the pay is 1,000 but if you have a steel block the pay is 600

block but the difference comes in the weight savings of the aluminum block.  Those extra pounds make it almost impossible to compete with the aluminum blocks unless you race at a track were handling is not a first priority of the aluminum block race car owner/driver.   IMHO

i made this suggestion to path valley a while back . why dont they just make the weight rule 2300 lbs. and make the alluminum blocks front ends weigh the same amount as a steel block front end. so if a super guy wants to run for that kind of money he will have the same percentage. its not rocket science most places weigh all 4 wheels anyway.

a simple solution could be make the min. weight 2400# , that would not disadvantage the steel blocks
