I saw on Hagerstown's website that Ernie Davis is stepping down as promoter. I wonder if the Plessingers will resume operation as promoters in 2017?

He already is within 100 miles of the place at Roaring Knob which hes trying to sell. I hope he doesnt get near Hagerstown also.

 I saw on 4m, that Greg Gunter put an offer in to buy the place, and Frank turned it down.

The Plessingers have been around for a long time. I can't see them turning the reins over to just anybody to run the place.

That lasted a year until Ernie kicked him out, cant believe the rumors of him trying to resurect Thunder Valley havent started yet

The Plessingers have been around for a long time. I can't see them turning the reins over to just anybody to run the place.

Greg Gunter isn't "just anybody" and Hagerstown had started a downward spiral before Frank leased the place.

Heard a rumor that Gunter sold Winchester to the Winchester airport, maybe he will buy it

If Gunter were to unload a Speedway, you'd think it would be Potomac. He has a ton more cash invested in Winchester, and it's a better location for Race teams.

We went to Winchester Speedway in 2014 and 2015 for the WoO late model races and were disappointed in the racing there. All of the late model heats and feature events results seemed to be determined after the first lap of racing. All of the passing were mostly done on the start and then the cars got about 4 car lengths in between them and then it stayed that way even through restarts and the end of the race. Kind of reminded of some of the daytime races that they put on at the end the year at Haggy where it was so 1 lane that one could go up to the seafood restaurant at the end of the driveway, eat and still come back on the 99th lap and the top 10 would be the same. Or sometimes a sprint car race on a big old 1/2 mile where they get about 6 lengths apart on the start and stay that way until the end. I don't know what happened at Winchester because we had been there in the 90s for a few STARS races when some of the top 5 started way in the back and worked their way to the front.

I think the dirt/clay at Winchester is a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde, we raced there somewhat often for about 3 years and one night is was slippery dust surface and the next it was 3 grooves wide. Heck that happened in the same night depending on humidity and cloud cover.

The race track is always there through all the weather, clouds, sun etc., there are things you can't see either how the water table below the surface is, how much rain for the month, year etc. lots of variables. On any given night however the track is the same for every car. Now over the years the track or tracks have basically always been the same. I see a lot of disgruntled fans reference about one lane, train no passing etc. Well the cars are a lot different, technology is different tires are different, I think both facility's are top-notch.

After reading about 'the deal' any prospective promotor gets it's no wonder why nobody cares to step up to take over racing there.

Great newsIm hoping they will put the "speed" back into Hagerstown speedway.The only thing thats been missing is the effort in the track prep.
