As poplar as he was to the fans his leaving wont help the organization get back on track to overcome the land rush of fans denying the sport, Hopefully he will get back into a dirt late model.
Carl Edwards as had enough.

I don't think Edwards ever ran dirt Late Models?/ The cars he ran mostly before heading to NASCAR were like our E-Mods here in the western PA area.

Edwards did some dirt late model racing. In 2007 Edwards won The Prelude to the Dream.

Carl has been a fan favorite for many years. I believe he has finished second in the chase 3 times, that alone I feel had a lot to do with his decision. He has a family and what it takes mentally and physically may have played a role in his future. I don't think we've seen the last of him. Squarez ? will be needing to step up his game. You gotta wonder how much longer Kennseth will be behind the wheel ? Maybe Carl can follow Mark Martin and CBR and get a young hot shoe to bring along.

At only 37, and the shape he's in, he could take several years off and still return in competitive fashion. Lots of drivers will be retiring or replaced in the coming years and he could easily return. I could be wrong, but I think this step aside was planned a while back to promote Suarez (ARRIS), and Nascar's Drive for Diversity. It sure won't help the crowds or viewership, and I feel bad for the wing guy in the infield who still has not perfected his back flips.

I don't watch Nastycar any more. It's too much in favor of a certain few. I knew that Carl was not going to be the winner. All week long it was talk of Jimmie Johnson going for his 7th. This year the talk all year will be about Dale Earnhart Jr. big come-back. Local racing is the best.

I don't think Ford was happy to lose him when he went with Gibbs. I see this as a break to settle the contract and he will be back in a Ford in 2018 or so.........Wait for it!!
I have a feeling there is going to be an open seat at Stewart Haas at the end of the 2017 season.
The big question is will it be filled by Larson or Edwards??

I don't think your going to see Larson going anywhere. Ganassi see's how good this guy is. But I do agree the drivers at TSR will be seat jumping. Personally I still can't believe TSR is going Toyota. With the heavy chev/GM support and sponsorship TSR rec'd I expected them to be with GM to the end.
What are you talking about?? Stewart Haas and TSR are going to Ford. Money talks and I guess Ford's offer was better than Chevy/Hendrick.
It was well known that Stewart wanted Larson in his #14 but his contract with Ganassi isn't up till 2018. Ganassi is hardly a force in NASCAR and have a feeling if a shot/s at the Indy 500 isn't in Larson's future at Ganassi i'm betting Larson is going to move on.
If Bowyer doesn't perform in the #14 it wouldn't surprise me to see him done at the end of the season and Larson in the ride.

Boyer proved that even a top driver, who has won races, can't do diddle with a third rate car in NASCAR!!!! And such is much the same in all of racing!!
GOOD RACING!!!

The business relationship with SHR and Ford is substantial and long term. Both sides are committed to winning the championship and for the most part, they have the resources to do so. KL will be in an Indy car someday soon, as he's in the right camp for that to happen.

Looks like he got out just in time with this assinine new point system that has been dreamed up. Pretty soon the Cup races will only have friends and family sitting in the stands like some of the truck series races have been lately!

I'm sure this business of trying to win each segment of each race for extra points will make for some extra crashes as well?
