hope Saldana walked away, flipping on top of the guardrail is the worst...but how about Larson..

got a whole new respect for him after watching that.

I remember when Dave Blaney flipped out of the now closed Manzanita Raceway,

the track was up against an old Auto Wrecking business in turn 3...when they interviewed him afterward..

Dave said as he was flipping out over the fence all he kept thinking was  "I hope them Dogs Aren't out !"..

refering to the fabled nasty "eat you alive" Junkyard dogs that patroled the yard ...lol

That was a bad wreck !

The first time I saw Larson was when they first brought him to Charllotte and were talking about how he won 3 major USAC events and was unheard of and im not sure what they were .. But they had him in a Bandalero and he came thru the field and won on the last lap with the front bumper dragging on the track and then the other little cars with motorcycle motors .... he came thru the field and won that race too with only a couple laps to go . I believe he started at the back in both races and wore out both cars to win .. When I saw that .. I was an Immediate fan !

Shatz and Rickie Warner will go down as the best ever driver/crew chief combo. I wonder when Tony Stewart races if Warner is behind the wrenches on his car ?

I'll stay with Karl and Steve as the best combo..not as much competition these days in my eyes.

Reading various other message boards it seems an other sprint flipped out of the park last night in the same area and three fan/crew were injured this time.

Looks like Volusia/WRG has a serious safety issue with their catch fence/lack their of down there keeping cars out of the pit grandstand area.

Twice last week cars got out of the track........

SUPPOSEDLY DALE BLANEY. Life flight came in to take injured to Halifax hospital. The lawyers are jamming the cell phone towers I'm sure.

It was Dale Blaney according to the info I have received.  Three cars flipped in one crash and it was Blaney who went out of the ball park.  Bad news for all!!

The other two were Jason Sides and Rico Abreu according to my fellow AARN writer Chuck Bollinger who was there.  None of the drivers were hurt but three pit spectators were injured. Two remain in the hospital according to a DIRTcar release received here.  Chuck has additional info in his AARN column this week.

Doug Wolfgang and Davey Brown in the Weikert car were pretty good also !..Wolfie is my all-time favorite sprint car driver bar none...

If Ricky Warner sticks around in the sport for as long as Karl and Davey Brown his accomplishments are going to be off the charts. Shatz gets it done in the seat, but like Kinser and Wolfgang, I don't think any of them would have had the careers without who they had turning the wrenches. Karl showed it after Steve left with Mark behind the wheel and Davey Brown has had success with a variety of drivers. Swindell had success, but he never had that top wrench because he feels he is the top wrench.

Gotta agree with ya on all of that....Wolfgang has the one lap fast time at my hometown track Jennerstown when it was dirt.

I use to go to Latrobe [Shumckers} when J-town wasn't running...Would go over there for mid-week specials or when they tried Wednesday night regular racing for a year or so or when they did the Sunday night regular shows way back and most recently the Sunday shows back 10 years or so ago...It seems to me that they tried Friday night racing for a short time also?...I was over there when they were doing the 410 sprint car shows one night on Wednesdays and Bobby Allen showed up...He flipped going into #1 and ended up back into where the tree line was in a heat race...I don't think the Wednesday night deal lasted very long?...I know that place was bad fast for being as flat as it was and with those short turns...

Yea Wolfie it was a fast track. Enjoyed watching the mods back in the day. Blackie would get that #1 of hemi joe's just haulin around that place. You crashed there, you felt it, and the car usually didn't fair to well either. Chuba's wreck scared the hell out of a lot of people, that thing was nearly bent in half. Hemi joe's coupe didn't fair to well one Saturday night also.

you no. you see today's racing and I gotta tell ya. I/we came up when racing was just fun. it was lernerville, schmucker's, then motordrome most weekends. you take those 3 tracks back then, lernerville had don martin and he kept making changes to that place year after year. in the size of the track to the grandstands that kept getting bigger and the concession stand that many waited to eat there on a Friday night. schmucker's as you said it was just a racy place, it had the speed. motordrome in my opinion was probably the best racing, and sitting on the hill. wow how stupid were we. I believe it was frannie gower that flipped coming down the backstretch and ended up landing just feet away from us. they ruined it all. both Latrobe and motordrome sit idle, 2 of the best dirt tracks in the state. ya you can toss Clearfield in that mix to. I believe the schmuckers family still holds that property, a few have tried but the place needs many updates, motordrome and Clearfield just need some good old clay put back on them. dream on.

I remember the 'Good Old Days'. We would go to North Hills on Thursday, Lernerville on Friday, Mercer or Marion Center on Sat.

New Alex on Sunday afternoons then to Blanket Hill on Sunday night!! Food, gas, beer, tickets cost about $50.00 for the week!!!

Now, one of the above will cost almost that much!!!  Aaaah, the 'Good Old Days'!!!
