Welcome, Like D1RT said. Sizzlers were some the best , back in the day. You never knew, who was going to show up. Motordrome, Clearfield, and Jennerstown, when they were dirt , will always be my favorite memories. plus all the Fall Fests at Challenger. Maybe, you can give us some news from out east.

I remember the Summer Sizzlers and you're right, they were fun !...Was you or anyone else hear on this board at Motordrome in 79 when Charlie Cragan lapped the NDRA guys twice and won the race?...I was back on the hill standing that night in the pits and those southern boys couldn't believe it because Charlie's car weighed a lot more than those guys....That was a fun night.Summer Sizzlers!! I remember Pivason very well....Always loved his wild driving style !....The hill at motordrome was the best seat in the house. Anyone remember the streaker. It was said Ronnie pivason made a lot of money that night. I saw the guy run across the track and disappear into the pits. Was it or was it not ?

You are way more than right about his driving style. But, you can"t forget about some of his cars. Like the one that had a all Aluminum frame. I don:t think they let him race really not sure. Met up with him at a retired drivers dinner a few years back, great guy to talk to he has some good stories to tell.

I can't remember the aluminum frame?....Never met the guy but remember seeing him roaming the pits at Jennerstown when he ran there regular for awhile...If my memory serves me right I do remember him be interviewed when he would win and he was a great interview. You are way more than right about his driving style. No I wasn't at the NDRA race but on his way home from it he stopped at Marion Center and tagged the back of the field and ended up lapping the field there too.
Also remember the night Rodney Combs was out East at an NDRA race and was coming across I-80 and they stopped for fuel at the Clearfield truck stop and asked where there was a track around there and ended up at Clearfield Speedway tagging the back of the field and lapping them like they were standing still.
And heck while we're on total smack down races I remember Barefoot Bob McCreadie showing up out of the blue one night at Lernerville and made the regular big block guys look silly as he lapped the field.

Barefoot Bob also won at Sharon during an unexpected appearance. August 28, 1987. An expected McCreadie-Blaney battle never happened when Lou dropped out early with a flat. Bobby Kraus and Kevin Bolland were 2-3. He then won the next night at Raceway 7 over Kraus and Blaney. Came down to pick up a couple of engines as I remember it. I was on the mike at Sharon at the time. They were running Fridays and 7 on Saturdays then.
GOOD RACING TO ALL!!!

I have no idea, really can't remember, but when he came down that weekend I believe he had a 358 motor in that car. Some said it was a new design troyer that they didn't want the guys back home to see. As D1rt mentioned he just checked out on everyone. People were waiting to see a run between him and the locals that night and it just never happened.

Now that's some cool stuff you put out there....It seems to me I kinda remember Charlie stopping at Marion Center that time?...The first time I ever saw Rodney race would of been at Pennsboro at the 1st Dirt World 100 in 81 than we went back for the next 2 after that....Barefoot Bob,that's a famous name in dirt track racing for sure...I'm guessing the only time I would of ever seen him race would of been at Hagerstown?.....Going back to talking about guys showing up somewhere by surprise we were up at Mercer one night probably in the early 2000s and Mark Smith from Central,PA shows up for a regular 410 sprint car show on his way to Ohio Speedweeks in the Zemco Car...No I wasn't at the NDRA race but on his way home from it he stopped at Marion Center and tagged the back of the field and ended up lapping the field there too.
