Might wanna change the name of this race to something like. The sun bake 25 or the scorcher 25

Yeah, it kinda loses the appeal in March.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

Cumberland waited until the stands were full then decided it was too muddy. Should Mercer have done the same?

I'm not so much complaining.  I just really like going to a race in January.  They couldn't have run in January this year, because it was too warm and wet.  The track would have been a bog.  They tried it one year.  It didn't work well.

When did it end?

Seems to go on 24/7/365.

I wonder if the "bitchers" ever go to a race at Mercer raceway.   They never complain if Sharon, Lernerville, Tri-city, Eriez, Raceway 7  cancel.

Thing is, Mercer often calls races due to weather even when there is no weather. None of the other tracks you listed do that.

You no. Jim B. put out the cancelation and a request that they are still looking for help in the kitchen. Those that can't understand why need to spend a day in a business owners shoes. Mercer, PPMS and more can't be mentioned on here and they don'T get blasted for something. You don't like the place stay the hell home, go to the speedway you like, there is so much history epically in Mercer that if the place would lock the gates one of the great speedway's in western pa history could possibly be gone. Get off the bitchers bandwagon. Go to your track and post something positive. I have seen some tremendous racing at mercer in all divisions I think you would be hard pressed to say the all star sprints, the SLM or Big Block Mods have put a bad show on at mercer. I plan my trips north over racing schedules. The weekly racing here in the south is like watching a enduro back home. I have been to 5 different tracks down here and they cannot hold a match to what is in and around the tri state area.

jo73, i for one have been hard on PPMS, due to issues when my son and grand-daughter raced there. I also did not like the way they treated some of the drivers and fans. But that being said PPMS is doing some really good things, they brought in the Penn-Ohio, All-Stars and Lucas Late Models, plus fixing the stands. You are so right Mercer has a great History in West Pa.. And it would be sad to see the gates close. Instead of bashing a track try looking at the good. Ether way go support your track have a few beers and enjoy the races while we still have them.

My favorite is FIREHOUSE RED from North Country Brewing Co, 20 minutes away.  However, my daily brew is AMERICAN Light, a cheap IC Light from Pittsburgh Brewing.  Also like the Stouts and Porters.  But being an old phart taking some meds, I have had to cut down my beer drinking somewhat!!

GOOD RACING!!!!

Walt
