For those of you who have not heard yet, Christian Schneider is looking for a ride this year, whether it be a full time ride for the whole season or filling in for someone who is unable to race on a certain weekend. He and his dad built all of his race cars, he's always run his own equipment and has had a lot of success. I will not go into detail on why they are not racing this year as it is a personal family matter, but even though his 2017 plans are up in the air, I can say... that he has not lost his passion and desire to pursue his dream. He is willing to do whatever it takes to get back into it, he knows it takes a full team effort and to be successful you have to put in the time and is willing to help work on the cars and do whatever is needed to be done, not just show up and drive. He is one of the most promising and talented young drivers out there and I will detail his accomplishments below for those of you who may be unfamiliar. He was also chosen last year by Chip Ganassi Racing as part of their Generation Ganassi mentorship program where he was to be paired up with one of their drivers to offer advice and guidance through his career and could have led to a major opportunity, an opportunity that was lost due to not being able to race this year and one that he really hopes to get back. If anyone is deserving of a chance to get back behind the wheel, it is Christian. If you or anyone you know of is looking for a driver this year you can contact him directly or you can contact me at 724-612-1321 and I will have him get in touch with you.

Career Accomplishments:

Began racing go karts in 2007 and in 6 years won over 100 races at multiple tracks and 4 championships.
Won the World Karting Association Asphalt World Championship in New York

Moved up to the Young Guns 4 cylinder division at Pittsburgh Motor Speedway (PPMS) in 2012 and won 4 out of 9 races

The following season moved up to Hobby Stocks and won 10/11 races and the championship.
In 2014 he made his debut in the Late Model Sportsman class, also known as Sportsman Stocks or Street Stocks at other tracks. Won the heat and feature in his very first race and went on to win 7 out of 13 races that year and another track championship.

In 2015 he won 6 or 7 out of 10 races at PPMS, won the Penn Ohio Stock Car race at Tri City Speedway, and led the entire Ed Laboon Memorial race at PPMS before being taken out in the closing laps. He has also competed at Lernerville Speedway in the stock car class.

Last year he moved up to Super Late Models and recorded a win in his very first race in that division at PPMS as well

There are plenty of great family owned rides. He had to little experience. Costs are high enough people cant even afford to race anymore, yet alone hire a kid to drive. JMO. Good luck!

If as you say they have built all of there equipment. Which I do not question. Where is last year's stuff ? A limited schedule is better than no schedule.

jo73 what you say has some merit, but there are times when things happen that puts a block in your plans. Even at a level of a limited schedule. Christian has talent and might be a good fit for someone. All i"m saying is you have to use all your options regardless what they are, with a little luck it might happen but don"t give up.

The problem is that today with the high cost of racing most drivers, or their families, own their own cars!!  "Car Owners", the guys who used to own a car and hire a driver, have been forced out of the sport as they can no longer afford to keep a race car competitive and pay the driver 40-60% of their winnings!!   Therefore "rides" are no longer available!!   Just look at local Sprint Car racing.....with Martha retiring and Jim Chaple not running much, there are hardly any competitive cars left that are not owned by the driver or his family!!

GOOD RACING!!!

Walt

Not knowing the why, I hope cause is corrected.... more so than the not racing effect.

Family is more important than racing.

Best wishes to the Schneider family.

Walt, you hit the nail on the head. Few teams have the hired driver anymore. Joe Kelley and the 66 team may be the longest combo out there that I no of that are still racing together. The old days are just that, OLD and I don't see it getting any better. Ferree and the 10 team.

Yes jo, and that is one of the biggest problems facing the sport in the long run!!   A young fellow wanting to get into racing nowadays can't just go get a car out of the junkyard and go racing except for the mini-stocks and some Pure Stock classes. And like you, I don't see things getting any better!!!  Will the sport still be around at the local level in another 20 years???

GOOD RACING!!!

Walt

I am a fan of watching the bought for speed classes. Sprints, SLM, BIG BLK MODS. in that ordder. But, you are correct Walt, in today's racing you have to go BUY your equipment. I personally can understand the chassis and the bolt on components. I cannot understand the drive train issue's that are driving the sport today. First and foremost it takes the pleasure of knowing that I built those pcs. bolted between those frame rails. It's why I appreciate what those guys running the penn Ohio races are doing. Racing has been an enjoyable part of my life for many a year and it's why I contimplate putting a car together every year.

To anyone that may or may not have seen it. Go to Hot Rod magizine on the net and put in dirt track racing. There is a great pc in there about Bobbie Wearing's yellow #1 that won 16 in a row at lernerville. I believe they said it was the first Howe chassis car in our area. Not sure about that. Nice article.

Bout done myself, have been to races from Canada to Florida for many years, I can't understand why western PA pays out so little compared other regions, we have fantastic racers, but if you are not wealthy, I don't see how they do it anymore.

Other areas aren't running three headline classes.

I just moved to Georgia and went to the races this past weekend at a local track here named senior speedway. They have 4 different late moder classes with 17+ cars in each class.they run 4x headline classes and was packed .. so running several headliner classes can also be a good thing

I've been to many tracks in GA years ago which ran 3 late model classes.  Supers, limited's and the same with the back of the car closed.  I suspect the now fourth kind is crates.  When I saw three the fourth class was entry level front wheel compacts.

What I saw looking under the sheet metal was a good portion of the supers were fitted with sharp looking new or newer parts.  Then the top limited's looked good under neath.  Shortening the story it appeared limiteds were mostly hand me downs from the supers with the closed in back end lates pretty much grubby looking under neath.  I never asked by there may have even been a chassis claimer. on the bottom rung late's.  I liked going to North GA Speedway best.  Don't even remember all the names of the others.  My first trip to Dixie speedway and land fill was in the late 70's.

The Kid is a Great Driver!!!

People don't see it getting better like they didn't see 700,000 factories leave the country at the Hands of the " Working Man " Party on 2 / 4 / and 11 !

I've read this exact same topic somewhere else , word for word. People need to mind their own Buissness . I know Frankie and Christien very well & MONEY is not the issue . Their business is their business , & it should not be discussed BY CLOWNS on the Internet that know nothing about it . THERE IS MORE TO LIFE THAN PUTTING A RACECAR ON THE TRACK FOR "YOUR" ENJOYMENT !

The topic was about the kid looking for a ride and the reason is Personal ! You are the only keyboard clown that has offered any light on the reason!

Everybody on here knows Dad is a Racer 24 hours a day and knows as much as anybody and that " Money is not the issue ".

I did not know the kid is looking and would never have guessed!

He wont find a better car owner or knowledgeable person than senior ... And he wont be driving for Chip Ganassi without dads money or an Angel from heaven  ! SO he may not look like his record if he is not Driving the same Top of the line best on the planet you can get car that DAD built !

I wish him the best and hope that someone will give him a shot ! There are 10,000 great drivers in the world and only 2 get a chance! Hope he gets it !

My guess is that Dad is trying to make the only worth while point  you made! Good Luck to the kid in many ways!
