While the weather has been difficult so far this year, gotta give big kudos to Turkey at Mercer, as well as their entire crew, for all the hard work and time they're putting into the track to make it a premier racing facility for the fans, as well as all those racing there. It's all for the love of the sport!! :)  :) Here's to a great 2017 season at Mercer Raceway Park!!

When in doubt....GAS IT!!

The only shows I have been to at mercer in the last few years was the all star shows.I will say this. This is another step in the right direction for Mercer. Its called effort. We all I think understand the financial burden of owning a racetrack but the lack of effort the last few years at all has been a real turn off. The track in the heats at the opener was awesome. There was more passing in those heats then I have seen in the last 15 years during heat races combined.  I actually called my brother at home and said "you have to get up here" Lol.  Got a little one groove in features but Im sure turkey will figure that out too.  Eric may be the best thing to happen to Mercer time will tell, but Im optimistic for the first time in a while. Love the direction. Now I just hope all the people who have complained about the lack of effort (including myself) show up to support this deal. I will be there.

What I'm hearing is all good signs for a great and competitive season...I'll be honest,I stayed away as a fan from going there for a few yrs. now because of the one groove racing but I will definately get back this year hopefully.

To say I am thankful for this announcment would be less than enough The direction Mercer seems to be going for 2017 is encouraging having been involved on a regular basis for over 25 years I have watched the rise and fall and have just stayed there when it would have been very easy many times to hang it up, but I must say it takes more than one to make this place return to its former place in the racing world.

Thank you Bill Altman, Frank Benic, and the entire crew that has held the Fort but now we may have the missing link in a young man that can and will allow Mercer to ( Become Great Again) this is how sucess happens hard work fresh thinking combined with the passion for the Sport and challenge before us.

Eric( Turkey) Williams may just be that missing ingredient that can and will bring Mercer back to its former glory days where the Quartesons, Blaneys,Lutzs, Allens,Opperman and so many more would come there to race on the most challenging Bull Ring I have talked with many drivers and they all say the same thing if you can run the top 5 at Mercer on a consistent basis you are a threat to win at any track.

Am I excited is an easy answer YES and the plus is you still have time to go to Church and still make the race I hope you do a double header Sunday.

Thanks Mercer Management

Because they couldn't play nice together and got booted. They only hurt themselves.

Good call.

I hope the "new blood" is making it easier for Bill Altman to stay with it, since he seems to be having so much trouble finding a qualified buyer.  The track can be good, and I can't imagine promoting a racetrack with "the fire" dwindling.  Most people wouldn't.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.
