well after much speculation I guess Jr has decided he has had enough. If it's for head reasons I can totally agree. My  question is, Carl Edwards said enough and know Jr. Are they looking at nascrap and saying this isn't fun anymore ? My guess is he will still have his xfinity series teams or will he sell out to Hendrick ?  with this announcement so early in the season you have to wonder what the teams direction will be. As a driver will he be pushing or will he just finish out the season being happy with what he gets. I think if hendricks starts to see the team fall apart a replacement may happen sooner than later. You will always have to wonder what direction DEI would have taken if Sr was still around ?

Jr. Was the last reason I had to watch the total bullshit that they call NASCAR. I used to love NASCAR, attended races and was actually on a pit crew in 99, met Dale Sr., rode in a golf cart with him, he was great person. It has not been the same without him, and I seriously doubt he would have put up with all this rule changing without a hell of a lot of resistance. It was plain from the start that Jr. would never fill his fathers shoes, he knew it, he accepted it, but he carried the name on proudly. He made his own mark on the sport, but the is sport so screwed up at this point, I wouldn't want to continue if I was risking further injury, all I have left to say is. Good luck in whatever he does, he doesn't owe anyone anything. His last race will probably be the last one I watch, its just not interesting anymore. If he choses to follow the infinity series, I will most likely follow it.

Sorry to see Dale, Jr. hang it up!!!  I have always thought well of him!!  I have been around this sport ling enough to have seen his grandfather, Ralph Earnhardt race at Daytona on the beach and in several Carolina races when i lived there 1960-61.

GOOD RACING TO ALL!!!

Walt

I watch the young guns. Blaney, Larson, and Elliott. As for Carl Edwards, you just never no. Will Hendrick make him I cannot pass deal ? I won't be surprised to see him (Hendrick) go after one of the top drivers from another team. Blaney ?

Dale Jr.'s retiring sure won't help the attendance problem or lack of TV viewership. There sure have been a lot of winning drivers leaving Nascar over the past year, and they take a lot of fans with them. For older fans like myself it's hard to watch a race with a different format and point system unlike anything in the history of motor sports. It also sucks to see the outcome of a race determined by a speeding violation (it is a race, isn't it?) or phony "debris" cautions.

Rather see Ryan in a Chevy than a Ford!!!!     Although I have a ton of respect for the Wood Brothers!!!   Also saw Glenn Wood race at Daytona on the beach and in a Modified race at Bowman-Gray in 1961.  He was dominating the Mods there at the time with a 1937 red flatback Ford coach #16.  There is a replica of the car at the Wood Brothers shop in Virginia.

GOOD RACING!!!

Walt

Jr still has his JR Motorsports teams in the Xfinity series and I wouldn't be surprised one bit if he starts a Monster Cup team/s with major help and backing from Rick Hendrick.

As far as Carl Edwards in 2018 there are two very good possibilities. He either goes to Hendrick or the better of the two he will have a ride at Stewart/Haas because he has a very good relationship with Ford and that's the only Ford team I could see him going to that's worth his while.

Hey Walt, I have movies of Lee Petty winning the race at Sharon Speedway, in the early 50's
