Alex Ferree won both 25 lap features at marion center tonight.  one from the front row , the other from mid pack.   Took the first going away over Glessner, Petyak and T. Beck.  The second after a battle for second with Jayme Beck.  Then finally catching Sean Claar for the lead.  Powell made a run to second then dropped off turn 4 on last lap.  I think Claar got second in the Pederman 61.  T Beck 3rd.  About 21 cars started feature,  some were steel blocks( Pinkney, Burns, wolf ).  Street stock, both classes put on a great show.  Chris Schnieder won the pro stock(55) on the track but I thought they announced him 6th after tech inspection  Fulmer (2) in the streets.

Jayme had a good run going! One thought-if you want to run supers and steel blocks together, have a 2spin rule. If you spin out more than twice you go to the pits. It was such a waste of time and fuel, for the caution to be thrown for the same cars to spin out continuously. Alex is pretty unbeatable right now.

Alex has been splitting his time between Marion Center and PPMS for the last two years, hardly call it cherry picking.  There are no other Super Late Model tracks within a reasonable driving time of the #10 home base on Saturday nights.  Besides, lots of drivers have great equipment and can't get out of their own way.  Alex's record speaks for itself.

Is the experienced and talented guy driving the 850 hp Durham with an xR1 whipping the field every time he shows up the issue or is it the solid portion of regulars competing at this particular track driving nearly 10 year old Rockets with steel block engines?

Is there a reason in particular that this car has such a revolving door of drivers in it over the years?

There's some high end cars at MC. It just comes down to Alex being a better driver than most of the regulars. Jealousy is a mofo.

I agree with the second sentence. Blose has been around forever and knows the setup like the back of his hand, Eash, Tommy Beck and Glessner and whoever is running the Peterman car at any given week are good there too but I don't know that I'd classify any of their capitals as high end.

Speaking for myself, I refer to Max and Rob cherry picking when they frequently pass over some over the bigger races in the area in favor of staying home to run with the Crate guys. I have much respect for the Blairs. They are very capable of winning any touring series race or beating any big name that comes into the area. Max just won a WoO event at McKean, but their agenda is at times puzzling. Hypothetically speaking here to make point, what the Blairs do is less like Alex winning a Super Late race at MCS and more like if Alex passed up a Lucas or WoO show at Sharon, for instance, and went and ran the Jook George at PPMS instead. On a bigger scale it's like Kyle Busch winning 9 of the 10 Truck series events he enters each year.

Remember the Blairs can take three cars to Stateline on a Saturday night and that track may be a lot closer to home than where there is a bigger race.  With money so much a part of the game, every team has to look at their bottom line!!  Max won $4,000 at Stateline last night, so why think about going elsewhere??   Ferree could have gone to Stateline, but he didn't.   Race cars are very expensive at this level of the sport and a team has to make enough to be able to keep going.  Also sometimes sponsors want you to race "at home" rather than 200 miles away!!   Years ago Lynn Geisler stayed closer to home than he might have otherwise done, but he needed to race where he could do #1 Cochran some good sponsorship wise, not haul off to Stateline or somewhere in Ohio for more money to win.

GOOD RACING!!!

Walt

Really 10 year old rockets with steel block motors? Let's see glessner has an XR1, Tommy Beck has one but is waiting on his motor. He is runnning a new older model rocket. Charlie Powell and Petya (I think that's how you spell it) have new longhorns with new Coronet motors. That's hardly sub par. Alex is hot right now. Just like Norris at Lernerville. Remember most of the teams running up front have had their new cars since late last season. Some teams just might need a little time to get use to these cars. The bigger races at the end of the year might have some local teams showing more muscle.
And giving these guys a run for their money!

Actually Max won more than 4K last night  at Stateline. He won the crate feature too. In his on track interview after winning the late model feature he admitted that he has been driving his dads late model ever since he demolished his at Eriez. Just put his tin on it. He said they do have another chasis coming but he didn't know if he would get it or Robbie would. On a side note Colton Flinner showed up. Didn't have a good night. 22 late models and 14 crates

While I don't agree with what Abe said abut the 10 year-old rockets, there is NO doubt, that when Alex pulls into the pits at Marion Center, he will be the man to beat.   Alex is not just hot now, he has been hot for the last 7 years.  Your MC regulars can have all the latest equipment and high-dollar engines, they just can't wheel a car like Alex. Period.
