Other than the teams and their family and friends the crates do not have a big following. They cannot draw a crowd as a stand alone program. There is not going to be the upheaval in the crowd there would be if an established star in the sprints, late models, or modifieds got the same treatment as Rocky. There is no question Vicki has her favorites. The first year of Fastrak, Max Blair was her boy. Along comes Mike Pegher and Max was dirt under her shoes. Rocky was a golden boy the first year the crate mods ran because he was an established racer switching to crate mods when there was no car count. Now the youth movement and expanded car counts along with his willingness to stand his ground and speak his mind have made him expendable. Vicki stacked the deck 4 to 1 against him with the flashlight. A brilliant move on her part. She wants him out, and he ain't seen nothing yet. I hope he can stick it out. Like I said he is kicking butt in the crate mods, so the kids will do whatever it takes to support Vicki removing their #1 rival.

i will say 7 has/is still doing it with crates as the headliner now for the what? 12th year? they get very health crowds.........alot bigger than mercers 410 crowd........

no headliner.........i repeat, no headliner.......don't change your same old thinking, with everyone patting you on your back about how only big three can survive and keep a track open. i just proved to you one right up the road that is, and has survived.........with crates as a headliner........now your starting to sound like a liberal mike.........and i know your not........just say, yes it can be done.

she needs to drop the chicken crap politics and remain neutral..period. if she makes track/tech calls that favor one driver over another, she deserves to lose her empire..Rocky does alot for that class helping some of the other drivers keep their cars together, setting up cars, selling used parts that are affordable. this needs to be made right..ask the Miley's what happened when they favored a family member.

In the position she is in. Queen Bee of RUSH. She had NO business getting involved as she did. There are people that are being paid by rush to go out and do the tech inspections. It sounds as if she definitely singled out Kugel. If someone from HER tech staff told Rocky that he was ok then she should have the issue with HER tech man. I don't know how many of you were around when the Emig's ran Lou Gentile in the 6 cylinder class ? Many thought things in that car were not up to snuff and that they pushed the rules. But, back then, all the car had to do was look like it belonged in the class you were racing.

That is still how it is at PPMS, on a regular night, unless you stink up the place and win by half a lap going away, and aren't on management's darlings list!

Scott, my friend, we are talking about two different things. No headliners is your point, and my point is an all crate program will not support itself. Raceway 7 does have their act together. They also bring in sprints and late models several times a year, don't they? I think it's smart on their part. Just remember this Scott, the one track you singled out that races crate lates IS NOT A RUSH CRATE LATE TRACK!

If their sprint program gets going run RUSH crate "lm's, small blocks, sprints, and pure stocks" as a regular Sunday show.  Get use of the track two days a week Friday with their normal show and Sunday with the RUSH show.

The only problem I see is the stands were mostly empty when the RUSH classes ran with the BOSS sprints.

Open up Lernerville on Sunday for RUSH crate only cars and make it a consistent home base for both crate racers and fans who think crate racing is worth paying to watch and get hooked on being there every Sunday.

I guarantee you wouldn't get many more cars, if any, and you'd get a whole lot less fans.

It sucked or you would've been given an answer. But to be fair, it was $20 to get in so i'm sure that didn't help. As for 7 it doesn't hurt that they have emods and watson runs there. That dude has a huge fan base and he's from there. Obviously that's not all the fans go to 7 for but it certainly helps.

Funny thing is Mike, I remember when my dad drove against the Irvines and Wearing. He loved racing them, even when they won everything. Things sure have changed. I guess I still have the mindset that when I compete with someone I want to beat them by my own skill not some skewing of the game. But that's me and I'm a bit of an idealist.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

We agree on that. It was a different time. If a promoter had a problem with a competitor back thrm he went up to him and said, "I am teching your car now." It wasn't done by slight of hand with a flashlight. In Rocky's case every driver deserved to be told directly by spoken word, bring your car to tech, please.

From their rule book available online without comment other then order read

TECHNICAL INSPECTION

(Before the race)

Technical Inspection will be held at an area designated by the Technical Inspectors, and all cars must pass through Technical
Inspection before competing. No Exceptions.

After a race car has passed Technical Inspection, and sticker has been issued, No alterations may be made to the race car

(I read what's below to mean Spot-checks before going on the track to race after initial tech.)

Spot-checks can be made by the Technical Inspector at any time, and penalties will be applied to cars found illegal after Tech
stickers have been issued. If a car is found illegal after qualifying, the Driver will lose his time and start at the rear of a Heat race. If a car is found illegal at the start of a Heat race, the Driver will lose his time and have to start at the rear of a B Main. All race cars are subject to be inspected by the RUSH Series Technical Director at any time during the event

(After the race)

It is mandatory that the top five feature finishing cars go >>immediately<< to a designated teching area after the completion of the feature event and victory lane ceremonies.

(and last)

It is your responsibility to know and understand the rules before you participate.

Well then, yes, knowing that Vicki has it in for Rocky, he should go straight to tech any time he finishes in the top 5, period. I would even consider skipping victory lane. Let the track and series sponsors worry about victory lane. Malicious compliance.
