Shults Toyota Night at Old Bradford Speedway presented by Schaeffer’s Oil see Dennis Lunger pick up Craig Norton Memorial Race

By Katrina Gardner

It was Shults Toyota Night at Old Bradford Speedway presented by Schaeffer’s Oil featuring the Craig Norton Memorial race for the Little Power Shop Rush Late Models.  Dennis Lunger made his first visit to Old Bradford Speedway in 5 years and made it a memorable one.  Lunger not only picked up the Craig Norton Memorial Race but also picked up the win in the Close Racing Supply Rush Pro Mods.  In other action both Codie Baker and Dylan Edminster picked up their 3rd wins in a row in the Tasta Pizza of Bradford and Limestone Mini Stocks and the Derrick City Diner Kids Class Mini Stocks respectively.  Next week, both Baker and Edminster will have to start at the back of the pack in their Feature.  In the Rod’s Trophies of Eldred, PA Pure Stocks Billy Deming picked up his second win of the season.

In the Little Power Shop Rush Late Models Craig Norton Memorial Race presented by Norton Building Supply Inc. it was Andy Michael and Dennis Lunger leading the field to the green flag.  After a caution before the completion of lap one Lunger would jump out to the lead.  Michael would hold onto the 2nd place spot until lap 5 when rookie CJ Irons would take over that spot.  At the half way point it was still Lunger and Irons in the top 2.  Mikey Wonderling, Jeremy Wonderling and Michael rounded out the top 5.  The races only other caution would come out on lap 17 when John Haggerty broke in turn 2.  On the restart Lunger would hold onto his lead while the Wonderling brothers move into 2nd and 3rd.  Jeremy and Mikey would engage in a great battle for 2nd and 3rd with the brothers swapping positions several times.  At the checkers it was Lunger picking up the win and the $1200.  Rounding out the top 5 were J. Wonderling, M. Wonderling, Michael, and Irons.

In the Close Racing Supply Rush Pro Mods Critter Hemphill and Dennis Lunger lead the field to the green flag. Much like in the Rush Late Model race Lunger jumped out to the early lead.  Hemphill would fall into second until Nate Hartzell took over the position on lap 3.  Two laps latter Steve Dixon would move into the runner up spot.  Then on lap 8, last place starter, Rich Michael would take over the 3rd spot and the top three would remain the same until the checkers.  Hartzell and Clayton Tarabori rounded out the top 5.

The Rod’s Trophies of Eldred, PA Pure Stocks were led to the green flag by Billy Deming and Ken Shelley, with Deming jumping out to the lead.  The top 2 would remain the same throughout the rest of the race.  Josh Wilcox, who was involved in a lap one caution, was making a hard charge to the front and got up to 3rd and ensued in a great battle with Shelley.  At the end of the race it was Deming picking up his 2nd win of the season.  Rounding out the top 5 were Shelley, Wilcox, Dennis Harrison, and Barry Burritt.

Brandon Buchanan and Matt Mowery lead the Tasta Pizza of Bradford and Limestone Mini Stocks to the green, with Buchanan jumping out to the lead.  Buchanan would hold on to the lead until lap 9 when 9th place starter Codie Baker would take over the lead.  Over the next few laps Buchanan and Jessie Tarr would swap 2nd and 3rd.  Unfortunately, Buchanan’s night would come to an early end when he lost a tire in turn 2.  At the restart Matt Mowery would take over the 2nd spot with Nick Brown moving into 3rd.  Codie Baker would pick up his 3rd win in a row as the top three would remain the same for the rest of the race.  Eric Canfield and the 14th place starter Travis Babcock rounding out the top 5.

In the Derrick City Diner Kids Class Mini Stocks the front row was full of Josh’s with Josh Isaman and Josh Canfield leading the field to the green.  Isaman would jump out to the lead on lap one, Canfield would lead lap 2 and Isaman would take back over the lead on lap 3.  On lap 7 Dylan Edminster would take over the lead and cruse onto his 3rd win in a row.   Isaman, Canfield, Brooke McClain and Raven Burkett rounded out the top 5.

Join us next Sunday July 23rd for the return of the ULMS Late Models as they  invade Old Bradford Speedway Presented by Schaeffer’s Oil.  Also in action will be the Close Racing Supply Rush Pro Mods.  Rod Trophies of Eldred, PA Pure Stocks, Tasta Pizza of Bradford and Limestone Mini Stocks and the Derrick City Diner Kids Class Mini Stocks.
