The 28th annual Jook George Steel City Classic will be held on August 12th at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. This years event will be a Sweeney Rush Touring Series event. A great field of drivers is expected for what is the biggest crate race in the area in 2017. Many of the older fans will remember Jook and his famous number 10 cars. He had many great drivers in his cars over the years. This night is a tribute to a great man who left us way too soon.

Current Sweeney Tour points leader Bryce Davis will lead a strong group of touring drivers into battle against PPMS points leader Justin Lamb and a strong group of locals who will look to follow 2016 winner Mike Reft in keeping the loot local. Also we have received word from Russ King and Mike Pegher Jr that they both plan to be in competition at the event. Week in and week out the crates put on a great show at PPMS and this should be a great event with a strong field of drivers.

I would rather see more money being spent in the middle and back of the purse that is what is going to bring more guys in knowing they will go home with some decent money that can't win the big prize.

If a $1000 for 5th and $300 to start isn't paying well through the field I don't know what to tell you. Weekly $300 is the 2nd place payout and they usually have 20 cars. That's a pretty outstanding payday.

The only question is do the racers show up and support Branden the way they should. Last year's turnout was disappointing.

You go to win the race, the excuse that "if I finish 16th I won't make any money" is the most annoying thing everybody brings up. It's a race, not a charity. Branden did it just perfect, now people need to show up like they should.

I think we should give every driver one twenty sixth of the entire purse and a participation medal!!

That's probably the best crate payoff for the entire summer in a 300 mile circle. Kudos to all involved.

I would hope for this kind of payout there were be a strong field of cars on hand. Will the superstar Max Blair show up trying to take that 4 grand or will he stay home? No crate races around this region that pay 4 gs to win.

Typically start money is normally 10 percent of win money.so it is a smidge low.

Well, second place at PMS is usually $350. So kudos to this track for putting together a really nice payout for the crates.

If this payout does not bring in the cars then there is something wrong.
