Yes it rained like heck!! Got LM hot laps in and then it came down in buckets.

Got to give the promoter and track crew at Port Royal huge props for busting their butts re-prepping the track and getting the show in when they could have easily called it. Was about 10:30 PM when they started hot lapping/time trials.

Long day/night/morning but worth it!

Finished around 1:20 or so. Blaney, Hodnett, and Barger all pulled out when they decided to run Late Models first. Said they wouldn't be able to pass, Zearfoss came from 12th to win.

When there are sprints there to race Late Models should never run first unless to run the track in.  The sprints are always the top headliner of any "show"..

That shows you that it can be done, most of the sat nite tracks see a little rain they cancel,I guess they just don't want to put an effort into it,pretty much everybody cancelled last nite around western pa

sprint cars hardly the top headliner, shows how in classy the drivers are by pulling out cause they weren't first. winged dune buggies that have to be push started and takes an hour just to start the field. get with technology and put a starter in them.

It was a WoO late model race. Sprint cars were not the headliner

Tumblebunnies suck. They were merely a support division last night. Late Models have their share of whiny drivers, but I've never heard of any of them leaving because of the running order. That takes whining to a whole new level.

Sure it can be done if you have the right equipment. Not many western PA tracks have the fleet of track packers and heavy equipment Port has at their disposal. Some of sprint teams also had a concern that they would not get to their feature with the curfew which they started it after 1:00 am anyways. I just dont get sitting through 3 hour rain delay and then packing and going home when they start to race. Blaney even ran hot laps before leaving.

Blaney has complained in the past about running after late modela because of acrubbing odd the late model rubber for half the race before sprints can put theirs down. They are the top 2 types of cars and with payouts and media attention lates have the edge. I've grown to like late models much more over the past 4 or 5 years. This fight still amuses me with some of the stupid comments and remarks from both aides. Late models may put on a better race these days but watching Holtgraver rip around the cushion at Sharon last week reminded me why I loved sprint cars for so long. Sprints, lates, Big Blocks, emods. They can all put on a great show. Emods and lates have come a long way over the past 10 years while sprints and BB's have been stagnant.

Really???    In this area??   Disagree..   Sprints are about as exciting as watching paint dry 8 outta 10 times....  $100,000 SLM's shouldn't be "running the track in" for any class....
