Was just reading that we lost another great one in the motorsports world this morning. RIP Mike. Condolences to the Duvall family.

one of my favorite memories was waking up early one cool fall morning at Pennsboro and taking a walk down thru the pits, fog still burning off, smell of campfires mixed with the aroma of racefuel and stale beer ..
ran across a small group of people gathered around the back of one of the haulers and in the middle was Mike..wearing his famous Hillybilly hat and holding court.
doing a little preaching and telling some great stories..hung out there awhile and was always a big fan of his after that..he was quite a guy.

RIP Flintstone Flyer

I also remember similar circumstances with Mike at Pennsboro--

as I recall he also had an actual driving school

I recently attended a miniwedge race at Pennsboro and they were also having a reunion of drivers from back in the day

I heard Mike's name mentioned several times that day and now wish that I had payed more attention to the reunion rather than the race.

I remember when I was a kid maybe 7or8 my dad stopped In a bar on his way home from work in whitaker pa one night. Mike was sitting there with a few friends that my dad knew. He told my dad to call my mom and get me and my brother down there. So my mom woke us up and took us down. Mike sat and talked with us for over an hr. We left there with autographs and shirts. It was pretty cool as a young kid for him to take his own time to sit and talk to us at 11pm. He could have just blew us off but he didn't. I imagine he was in for the pittsburgher at the time.
