I'm new to racing.......

How does a guy get DQ'ed after winning a heat, and then gets a provisional at a track that he isn't a regular at?

You guys know everything, I need help understanding this?

Looked like they were measuring spoiler /deck height maybe and he failed it?  Dont know for sure but guessing he may have got a provisional for being the ULMS champ last 2 years? Waylon Wagner also got a provisional for being some kind of point champ in some series they had at clinton last year so I heard.

Wagner was essentially the track champ the last 2 years, which makes total sense for a provisional.  I've been around a long time, I've never seen a car be DQ'd then awarded a provisional, never mind not having any history at the track? Is Suppa a silent partner at Clinton Co?

That sounded like me explaining to my wife, as to why I drank way too many beers.  "An uneven spot" where they measured? This is Dave Hess we are talking about?  They knew it was high, and it was higher than an inch too.  Like Dave, a lot, but this is total nonsense, in all kinds of ways

Poor baby thinks he was the fastest car too. 2 of the other heat winners had better lap times

Not sure why they would even bother to check rear deck height because there is zero way under current rules to lock shocks to maintain that height during race. As soon as driver leaves check pad every latemodel raises up and would be deemed illegal. Some teams go to great lengths to control deck height during inspection with right front.Someone will always find a way to skirt rules.

Yet everyone else was apparently legal.

What's your point? Are you suggesting that everyone cheats?

There is often a fine line between bending the rules to the max and outright cheating.  Been going on since day 1 in auto racing.

it's been said for years. the guy that can read between the lines is the guy that usually has issue's with rule violations. then they just add more rules. and yes that has been going on forever. I was watching a u tube with steve kinser, he said his best cars were MITCHELL'S. never heard of them. why. because they made all the bolt on parts, His words. front axle and spindles Titanium, along with I'm sure a host of other stuff. he even commented on how lite the cars were. anyone ever hear of Mitchell's, not me.
