I was told by the management of a race track that by January of 2019 all tracks are going to have to have aluminum runners for their bleachers unless the stands are built into a hillside....Places like Hesston,Tyler County and PPMS are going to have to make some upgrades if they wanna continue to run if this is all true.....

I thought the ones at Dog Hollow that were built into the hill wouldn't count and I was thinking those ones on top have alumlnum or steel runners?

Not that it's not there, but I can't find anything on the net to backup what you said.  I did though find multiple places where it said bleacher upgrades to x specks is recommended but no where did it say mandatory.  What I found said bleacher upgrading was not mandatory except when required by some local municipalities.

 

Who told you or can you post something to support what you said was likely fact?  Looking at current regulations or specifications if it's true it would pretty much shut down all, other then newly outfitted, outdoor sports.  

 

 

edit:  besides it totally sucks when bleachers are closed in to keep you safe because it keep you from throwing empty beer cans and other trash under the bleachers.  darn shame when you have to go to a trash barrel to get rid of your junk to keep your squatter rights area clean.  ...

The tracks you named are in two different states, and Im thinking a decision like that would be made on the state level, and would affect more than race tracks.

I would think that this would be up the individual insurance companies. You have tracks out there like Atomic who have fairly new wooden bleachers on the grounds and that would be a huge expense to incur while they're still possibly paying off the original expense for the wood. This doesn't sound feasible, but then again the government constantly makes new regulations without considering the cost or consequences to the businesses effected. This would also effect high school sports venues, fairgrounds, etc.

This was told to me by the guys that lease Clinton County Motor Speedway....That track is owned by the fairgrounds up there and the fairboard told them this....The guys said they aren't updating the bleachers if it comes to this because they're on a very tight budget and if they still have the track on Jan of 2019 and wanna put on weekly races the fairboard is going to have to dish out the money or there will be no racing...I don't know how many of you have ever been there but the place is really old and run down and needs work done but the racing is awesome ...I was told by one  of the wives of the guys that run the track this summer that the fairboard won't put a cent in the place so it's a wait and see game.

I was there for their race, the racing was excellent but the facility could use some updating for sure. I'm surprised that they can't get any state funding like Bedford and Port does. It should be a state of the art facility since it's a fairgrounds.

It really could be a showcase if the fairboard would step up and chip in and like you said try to get state funding....That last race up there was awesome that night....We stayed till the last checkered flag of the last race...lol...I love watching late models up there...I think  it's as good as Tyler County without the dust...I went up there 7 times this year , seen 6 of them , the other on fair week rained out....

If this becomes reality what are they going to do with all the baseball, football and soccer fields that have the same ? Sounds like a push by either a politican or insurance company. Gate prices will surely rise, I couldn't see PPMS upgrading, along with others I'm sure.

I'm sure any and all renovations/replacements to any facility have to follow the Pa Uniform Construction Codes and the aluminum bleachers could be very well spelled out as such in the UCC.

We got a grant for all new bleachers for the park my son plays baseball at.
