Jennerstown Speedway Complex To Host National Late Model Event

(Jennerstown, PA)  On Saturday, August 11, 2018, Jennerstown Speedway Complex will host the biggest Late Model race in the Northeastern United States; the first annual “Motor Mountain Masters” event.  The weekend of activities will showcase a 150-lap (three segment) Late Model feature, paying $6,000 to win and $800 to start.  Uniquely, the race will allow multiple forms of Late Model cars to compete head-to-head, bringing together “Template Body” cars from all over of the Unites States.  Late Model Stocks, Pro Late Models, Super Late Models, are all eligible to compete, as straight-rail and perimeter chassis cars will be welcome on the same starting grid.  Also a part of the “Motor Mountain Masters” weekend, the Modifieds will be competing in a 50-lap feature, offering $3,000 to win and $200 to start.  The 4-Cylinder competitors were race in a 35-lap feature, with the winner taking home $1,000.

Jennerstown Speedway Complex last hosted a major, “open competition” Late Model event more than 20 years ago, when Ohio legend Tim “The Iceman” Ice defeated a field of drivers from 13 states.  The “Motor Mountain Masters” race is expected to draw race teams from across the nation, but this time, a wider variety of cars will battle for supremacy on the big, half-mile, paved oval.  Bringing together the types of Late Models that compete in the Midwest, Southeast, Northeast, and in touring series all over the country is the goal of this race. Modeled after a successful blending of multiple forms of Late Models on the West Coast, the detailed rules and weight requirements will be released in the Spring of 2018.

With open practice for all three divisions on Friday, August 10, the colossal weekend of action promises to be the most newsworthy happening in asphalt racing during 2018.  On Saturday, August 11, Pit Gates open 10am, with Tech Inspections starting at 11 am, at the same time tire/fuel sales will begin.  After Saturday afternoon practice sessions, Late Models and Modifieds will run green/white/checkered Time Trials, to establish heat race starting grids. Heats will begin at 5pm.  The Late Model, Modified and 4-Cylinder feature events will offer 30 starting positions, each. Six McCreary Tires are permitted for the Late Model race - this is an impound tire race. A used tire must be in the event of a flat.  For the Modifieds and 4-Cylinders, four American Racer tires are permitted; no tire changes unless it is a verified flat.  A used tire must be in the event of a flat.  Four cylinders will draw pills for heat races.

Complete rules and details will be released in the Spring of 2018.

I"m not real crazy about asphalt racing but this might be worth watching, so this one is on my list for 2018.

Should be a good show, pavement is fast if you run real late models.

Are the motor rules for the late models unlimited and basically what your saying is any body will be legal from stock appearing up to outlaw late model bodies?

it says "template bodies," so I would guess that the Main Event style bodies would be excluded, but I would contact the Speedway for clarification.
