I see that Matt Williamson will be running at Freedom Motorsports Park on Fridays in 2018. Signed on as a driver for the Behrent's Performance Warehouse team.

How is that Lernervilles fault? Hes running for a 10,000 points fund at a track thats probably 4 hours closer to home.

Merely pointing out another racecar leaving the Lernerville pits, there's quite a few

He is driving for somebody else which means they call the shots. Big step up for him. His win at Charlotte last year must have really impressed some people.

Good to see Matt get a chance to race closer to home and for that kind of point money. Just wondering why it took this so long to happen seeing Matt has good equipment not to mention he is one heck of a driver. Look loyalty to Lernerville can only go so if something better comes along I think you would be smart to at least try it. JMO.

Mat Williamson is far from the first or last driver to "leave" Lernerville. The track has survived the following drivers "leaving" over the years:
Brad Doty
Dale Blaney
Tim Shaffer
Rod George
Jimmy Hawley
Mark Cassella
Danny Holtgraver
more recently the Matus clan and Brandon Spithaler
Ed Ferree
Chub Frank
Lynn Geisler
Gregg Satterlee
Jared Miley
just to name a few,
People "left" when Don Martin ran the track, people left when Risch and WRG ran the track and drivers will leave during the Tomson regime.
Some leave for better opportunities, others leave for sour grapes, while still others leave because they simply run out of money.
I doubt losing Mat Williamson and Carl Bowser will spell doom for the track. They are fan favorites that will be missed, but others always fill the void. To blame the Tomsons for people leaving is plucking the low hanging fruit. Sure they piss some people off, but so did Don and Gary. You can't make everyone happy.

The second was because running the SDS required running a weekly DIRT sanctioned tracks. He wasnt getting max home track points in central NY because they all had multiple SDS guys running them. There is no hometrack requirement anymore.
Another thing, hed be stupid to not take an opportunity to run for somebody else. Racing is always way more fun if somebody else is paying the bills.

Mat has a great opportunity here and he would be foolish not to take it. It has nothing to do with Lernerville, just an opportunity to drive for someone else and move up in the racing world. No different that many before him who have left Lernerville for the World of Outlaws, All Stars and Lucas. Lernerville fans can be proud that Mat spent five years racing here and now follow him with what he is dong for 2018 and seasons to come!!! GOOD LUCK MAT!!!
GOOD RACING TO ALL

Great job for Mat! Another Lernerville regular moving up. Not everyone has tracks that send so many drivers professional. Very few tracks have the quality list that Lernerville does: Brad Doty, Dave and Dale, Tim shaffer....
My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

Mat is going to be something to reckon with up there. He was fast up there last year in September when he was there. Still think my favorite memory of him at the Ville(even though I was bitterly dissapointed), was beating Jimmy to the line off of turn 4 by an inch. Never got to see Jimmy win in that Big-Block, and that was devastating, but damn what a race.

I'm pretty sure he will be in his own car at Freedom for his weekly deal. The Behrent car is for the STSS series races only.............
