THUNDER MOUNTAIN EVENT FOR HOMAK POPS RESCHEDULED TO AUGUST 10TH - - NEW SEASON OPENER WILL BE PRESTIGIOUS ED LABOON MEMORIAL RACE AT PPMS ON JUNE 2ND!

For Immediate Release
May 6, 2018 (Sandy Lake, PA) As a result of Thunder Mountain Speedway cancelling due to the weather on May 4th, the Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series season will be delayed until June 2nd. The Series will make their 2018 debut at the prestigious Ed Laboon Memorial Race at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. Thunder Mountain's $1500 to-win event for the Homak Penn Ohio Series will be made up on Friday, August 10th.

The Ed Laboon Memorial Race will be the series’ first point race in 2018. Drivers will run qualifying laps to determine heat race starting order. The main feature event will be a 25-lap race, paying at least $2,017 to-win.

No registration is charged for drivers to participate in the event thanks to the Laboon Family. For the event, Vince Laboon and the Laboon Family raise funds to assist with purse payout, as well as additional monetary prizes. The Series will have contingency prizes to award including but not limited to a Hoosier Tire donated by Precise Racing Products and Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic and an American Racer Tire donated by Lias Tire and American Racer. The Miley Family and PPMS have a major role in making this event a success. Anyone interested in also contributing to this year's Ed Laboon Memorial Race can contact Vince Laboon by calling 412-396-9138 or email racer17v@yahoo.com.

Drivers can still become members of the 2018 Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series by completing a 2018 registration and mailing the form with payment to 172 Tent Hill Road, Sandy Lake, PA 16145. A $15,000 point fund is expected with $3,000 going to the point champion. In addition, over $13,000 in contingency prizes will be distributed to Series' members throughout the season at Penn Ohio events and over $20,000 in contingency prizes are given away to Series' members at the banquet.

Just wanted to add the 7th Annual Ed Laboon Memorial will again be $2,017 to win, $200 to start, and the popular Dobs Auto NQ race will feature an impressive $517 to win, and pay at least $100 through 10th.  I'm still working on some sponsors to pay deeper through the field as always.  Thanks to all the teams and sponsors who support this race.  Without your involvement, it would not continue.

Next, for my friends in the South Hills, the annual fundraiser for the race will be this Friday May 11th at the Loose Moose Saloon in Baldwin starting at 6 PM. $10 donation gets you $2 drinks all night long.  All proceeds go directly into the payout as well.  If you cant make it but still want to get involved, please contact me as mentioned above.

Thanks again,

Vince Laboon
