Sarver, PA (June 22, 2018) If there were any doubt concerning Michael Norris’s domination of the weekly fields and success at Lernerville Speedway transferring to similar results on a bigger stage against top national drivers, they were put to rest with authority on Friday night. Norris kept a stout field behind him for thirty laps with a lightning fast race car while skillfully hitting his marks with precision and navigating lapped traffic with no hesitation.

The young pilot who calls Sarver, PA home started on the pole of the main event and assumed command of the field from the drop of the green flag. He had little time to enjoy it though as Chub Frank slowed heading into turn three where former two time track champion Jared Miley made hard contact with him which brought out the caution flag and reset the field. On the ensuing restart, Norris was contested by Devin Moran who would provide the strongest challenge he would have to overcome throughout the race.

Norris created some separation as the laps clicked away, however Moran stayed close enough to become a threat at any moment and as lapped traffic came into play for the race leader with nine laps in the books. The two drivers then seemingly played a cat and mouse game through the middle section of the race while behind them, a three way battle emerged between Mike Marlar, Brandon Sheppard, and Thursday night’s winner Chris Madden as the three drivers raced three wide for several laps.

While that battle played out, Norris managed to make good decisions with two potential hang ups in lapped traffic including a late race move to get around Brent Larson, leaving Moran to find his own way around which helped Norris create enough margin to maintain as he crossed under the checkers first.

“This one’s for my dad and my grandparents,” an emotional Micheal Norris said. “I grew up coming here.”

It was a history making moment for Norris, but it was not the only history made on the night as Mike Marlar set a new track record of 14.812 seconds on a surface cooled by early rains, breaking Rick Eckert’s old record of 15.000.

The Firecracker 100 wraps up on Saturday night with a program consisting of heats, lined up from drivers best feature finishes, last chance showdowns, the 100 Lap Firecracker 100 Finale and the Uncle Sam 30 non qualifiers race.

Ed Lynch got an Outlaw win several years ago when he won the Silver Cup, now Norris has one.  Is there another track where the locals have beat both of the Outlaw series?

It was a great run by young Mr. Norris last night, however, Jared Miley led the first 72 laps of the Firecracker a few  years ago, ending up with a 3rd place finish.

Miley and king both led laps at Eriez last year with the WoO and Miley spun coming to take the white flag while leading. Hess won at Wayne County a few years back with the WoO and was leading again this year until he got a flat on lap 19. Robbie Blair ran top 3 at both Eriez and tri city. Saw the bloomquist info on facebook, then verified it on stlracing, and.... the WoO website under penalties for yesterday.

Walt

I heard the story of him falling and injuring his shoulder at the Eldora Dream was the reason he missed his test then. That "injury" won him $100K.

SARVER, Pa. DIRTcar officials have suspended legendary dirt late model ace Scott Bloomquist for not participating in random drug testing on Friday during Firecracker 100 weekend at Lernerville Speedway.

Bloomquist, 54, was one of 16 drivers randomly selected by a blind draw completed by a member of the Lernerville track crew. According to a DIRTcar Racing penalty report, Bloomquist had five hours to complete the test after not being able to provide a sample during initial check in with Drug Free Sport.

The other 15 drivers completed the sampling, with three drivers requiring two attempts to provide an adequate sample.

Yup. He ignored woo series director who "attempted" to help him go yo the test are. He even said after eldora his doctor was probably going to prescribe him something to help put off surgery... and the local lates fair far better than the local sprints. Lest we forget that Lynch owes a large part of that silver cup win to Schatz for punting Saldana off turns 1 and 2 while trying to lap him. Finally got past lynch and was checking out and boom! Record says Lynch regardless but he should still be sending Donny christmas cards....

Sicario. The race was between Lynch and mark kinser. Not sure where Shatz and Saldana had a outcome on the finish of that one.
