NO ENTRY FEE - No Sanction...

Hopefully this and the $15,000 show at the end of the year are successful so that our locals can continue to have big paying races for which to compete...

Car counts have been disappointing at most big Late Model races this year!!!  Like only 27 for the Sharon Lucas race and 15 at Pittsburgh for the Herb Scott Memorial.  This is a Late Model "cost" problem, not a track problem!!   And crate engine car counts have not been good at some weekly tracks either.

I would certainly hope that as many Late Model teams and fans that can make it, show their support to the Padula's for putting on this significant level of a (local) show. With a $35,000 late model purse on the line and given the number of drivers from this geographic region that could be available from Port Royal, Hagerstown, Selingsgrove, Winchester, Dog Hollow, etc. there should be 35 teams participating. In days gone by this show would have attracted 50+ cars. The full purse is listed on the Bedford Speedway website...highlights include 4th $2,000; 10th $1,000 15th $800 and $600 to start.

Best racing I've seen at bedford in a long time....feature went one lane about half way through...hoping they learn from there track prep tonight...they tried some different things that worked during heats and not so much for feature

39 lates showed up. Ferree led up until lap 45 when he had a tire go down, Hubbard inherited the lead and won followed by Rine, Tyler BareRoss Robinson and Walker Arthur. Miley started 21 and finished 6th

39 cars not bad. How was the fan turn out, was the support there?

The crowd was a good size, not shoulder to shoulder, but still good. Given the admission prices at both gates, overall it should have been profitable for the promoters and the vast majority of Late Model teams. The only critic was the slowness of the wrecker service for MINOR incidents. A positive was the surface was fast and the between events prep certainly helped. It did get a little single laned closer to the end, but that was not merely a result of the surface. Alex was dominant and his race to lose; unfortunately debris causing a flat took it away.

39 cars is impressive. No entry fee's or sanctioning was brilliant. Wake up promotors.

48 Sprint Cars at Mercer last night says pretty much the same thing!!!   Many locals in both classes don't want to run against the full time "professionals" and their high buck cars!!!

$600 to start is a big factor in the bedford counts IMO. It's gotta be worth it for people to travel. Good payout at the top which is what casuals look at but it was good pay through the field with no sanction, no BS. And as you alluded to Walt, no touring top dollar "professionals". There are a lot of factors such as the price of the cars but also the cost to run and fix them. Gotta be worth a drivers time and effort for them to load up and come out.

Bedford is very well located to get a good field of Late Models, being between the Western PA  and Central PA/Hagerstown/Winchester area, with no other Friday night tracks racing Late Models anywhere near.  Of course, the purse was also very nice, good top pay, and good pay to start.  Glad to hear the track was suitable for passing, at least for part of the race.  There may not have been any touring professionals, although the winner, Austin Hubbard, used to be one, but there were plenty of high buck cars in the field.
